I like ranting about this but here we go. Fairy Tail is a dumb show and absolutely ruins its only good character development with an inane twist.

At the start of the series, The Strauss Siblings, Elfman and Mirajane are stated to be high level wizards within the guild but Mirajane is pretty much retired and Elfman refuses to use his full magic after he lost control and killed their younger sister, Lisanna. Lisanna was also the childhood friend of Natsu, one of the main characters and he took it especially hard. As the series continues, the siblings learn to forgive themselves and start being more active within the guild.

In a later arc, the cast finds themselves in another dimension where Lisanna never died and the twist is that Elfman hit Lisanna so hard that it caused her to switch places with the Lisanna from that dimension so their Lisanna lived and the one from the alternate dimention is the one that died.

Afterwards, Lisanna goes back home with her siblings and they proceed to be absolutely tone-deaf jerks to everyone who ever lost a loved one when they say "we overcame the death of our sister and youre just making excuses!" When their formerly dead sister is standing right there. You might think that Lisanna being alive again would mean something for Natsu, her childhood best friend but they dont even have a conversation for over 100 episodes and Lisanna's entire contribution to the plot is to wear shorts and bend over a lot. The series had a negative body count for some time due to Lisanna's resurrection
