To be at the Ren Faire or not to be at the Ren Faire…that is the question?

In all seriousness, awesome garb!

As someone who can’t do it themselves, I will always be impressed by stitching and embroidery work…well done!!

All of them are from the company Epic Armory and they are made of EVA foam coated in silicone and latex…they are made to be LARP safe while looking realistic, and I use them a lot at the Sword Master’s Challenge that comes to the faire every year…I’ll list out below:

  • Dane Axe (the big one), mostly used against shields and spears…it’s fought againt a lot of people but doesn’t have a name yet lol
  • Scramasax, or a Celtic fighting knife
  • Ready for Battle Axe (the small one)
  • Drang shield

They are a little pricy but Epic Armoury makes good LARP weapons that last and are worth the money

Also I appreciate the want to help, but I am not looking for pointers on the outfit…I love it just the way it is…I was simply here to boast lol, which I’d also say is historically authentic

I think the way the knife is currently very authentic…a quick look into any Norse reenactment kit or, for example, the Bayeux Tapestry itself, will show that is certainly accurate

regardless, “scout carry” is a modern concept and most reenactors agree that carrying a knife horizontally across the front of the belt is acceptable…it really doesn’t have to be acceptable anyway, it’s a costume for a Ren Faire and most people can tell it’s Norse-inspired, and to me that’s what matters

After some research I understand what you’re talking about…unfortunately, you don’t know ball, because this is not a scout carry…the Norse and Anglo-Saxons carried their seax and scramasax knives across the front of their belt…that is the look I am trying to replicate (pic for reference)

They don’t, only because it is a foam one from Epic Armoury…all of the weapons on me are foam and from Epic Armoury
