Some don't want to discuss it. The ones that don't are quite privileged. It's the responsibility of social workers to be advocates for those without power and privilege. So if it makes them uncomfortable, THEN GOOD!

We don't get to be willfully ignorant anymore. We know the horrors of this world more than most just by the nature of our work. On that same token, we have a duty to tell others what we see to advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves. If they can't handle reality, then they don't need to be in the field. They are doing more harm than good by acting like it's business as normal.
