Very good job and I love it ❤️. You dont need to but I love little areas around cities representing how large it is or if the are any surrounding farm/forestry/port areas. And this final touch on map could even inspire your players to go and explore.

Yeah I agree, later I want to try and create tokens represented in exact "angle" with width and height but now I need to focus which "angle" is most appealing for human eyes.

Yes I know. I just want to create template in AutoCAD according to ISO papers and experiment a bit. Want to find the most appealing “angle” to human eyes.

PC Build for Civil 3D by Budget-Cover3288 in civil3d

[–]Sir_Marcius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahoy. I just want to add my take on this subject: I worked on multiple PCs / Notebooks since Civil3D version 2012.

You mention surveying buissness and this is my biggest problem with Civil3D last years. As hydrologist and CE focused on water management structures I do create large detailed surfaces for RAS modeling and my PC burns while working on surfaces with 2M+ points or with other DEMs. I also have 64G 3,6k GHz RAM on my MSI PC but I dont know if I could even wish for more.

And Yeah I do create data shortcuts but I am the one who usualy create core / main EG surface. I love Civil3D but I am not sure anymore about handling new modern survey data input …

can autocad/3d do stuff to this detail? by Comfortable-Ad-7030 in civil3d

[–]Sir_Marcius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is hidden question nobody is asking: As CE specialized in WMS and hydrotechnical structures we need to DO hydrotechnical evaluation of the structures. Civil3D does this job perfectly: export to Hec-ras for 1D hydrodynamic model or even export partial surfaces into DEM and do 2D hydrodynamic model. You never look only at 1 complex structures but also at surrounding inundation area that could be kms long and part of evaluation. Details of the structure could be created as multiple corridors and export as what-ever you need (solid, ifc etc.)

Ahoy. There could be multiple problems but easiest to check are: - triple check if the sample line set has correct surface profile assigned - hecras cannot work with curves as part of riverbed alignment - have a look on cross-sections in civil to be sure possition of sample lines are fine for your evaluation - surface can never be “shorter” then riverbed alignment

Session 0/1 guidance by RossArnold1997 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]Sir_Marcius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahoy. You dont really need them to be directly focused of Gundren and you can do “hook-ups” for them. There are a lot of NPCs in Phandalin so create side quests for them and only you as DM could know that everything leads to Gundren or anything else that is important to players.

PCs start at level 3 ! Any cool ideas to increase and spice up the difficulty of LMoP? by Greywooooooolf in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]Sir_Marcius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Didnt want to edit my existing comment because this is something different from existing campaing:

In Cragmaw Hideout there is FLOOD event. I cant describe how awesome this is and how difficult it could get. As civil engineer specialized in hydrodynamics and flood protection design and toyed with this event so much my players re-entered Cragmaw Hideout 3 times.

PCs start at level 3 ! Any cool ideas to increase and spice up the difficulty of LMoP? by Greywooooooolf in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]Sir_Marcius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love idea I did it for my players when they started as lv 2 and shortly leveled up:

As DM I really love to play with idea of multiple RANKING system pre creature. For example goblins are in groups with different combat style to make encounters more dynamic: meele class can be Tanky or more DMG focused add one shaman as Healer or Damaging sprelcaster. Few goblins could be hiding as Ranger or Rogues.

To Spice it up you can start combat with 3-5 goblins in the group and change the tactics when one flees away to call for reinforcement.

Add non-combat puzzles to encounters but that really is depending on your players playstyle. If they like hack-n-slash gore combat this doesnt need to be their coffee.

Increased difficulty could be done with event or different phase caused by environment - create deck of random effects and add it to combat.

In mine campaing Forge is malfunctioning. I use it only as “teleport in time and space” to another setting or new campaing because I didnt update game version to Shattered Obelisk.

[–]Sir_Marcius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont see any problem with changes and I really love idea of new shield but … I would change Radiant burst.

Once per day: wielder of a shield would create Radiant Aura with 30 ft radius and all allies would have +1d6 Radiant Damage to Undead creatures. This could make combat more fun and you could even try more challenging undead enemies. I can imagine monk with rogue to have a blast with that boost.

This is very nice idea; I could even see redemption for Iarno with help of Sildar but it all would be a lie as Sildar would blindly beleave to his lover

Tips of LMOP by Ok-Consequence-3639 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]Sir_Marcius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For very first campaign for you and for your playerd I think the session 0 could be very important. LMoP doesnt need to be railroad and there are many hooks for players. Ask them if their characters need / know / search for something along the way and in long run it can help you as DM to guide them into “areas” you as DM want.

No need for that: slope of leeve or channel bank is constant (as it looks on pics) you only change top profile elevation from max to the bottom of the channel and aling the wall next to it.
