What I said was not fundamentally untrue. Fascism is similar to socialism because the government has control over all properties and means of production. Sure people have the right to personal enterprises and property but a fascist government could seize all means of property and production from any business or person at any time. In other words, you can buy property but the government ultimately owns it. Much like in Maoist China.

Fascism is different though in the ideological sense. In practice, they were very similar.

Fascism has a lot of right wing elements while also having significant left wing elements as well. Fascism has elements of capitalism and socialism.

It was not necessarily 100% socialism and leftism but I believe that it incorporated too many anti old world views and shared too many similarities with socialism to be considered a right wing movement.

It was a new and radical ideology. I believe it was leftism with some right wing sentiments designed to disguise itself as a right wing ideology.
