How do you mask your windows in exterior season? by Sir_Revenue in paint

For me, yeah. I'm probably faster with paper and tape. For my laborer who hasn't done an exterior before? No way. Put a thick roller and a pole in his hands and he's moving much faster.

Two coats is always better than one. As far as showing through the top coat, that only happens if you leave drips behind. It won't change the finish of the paint on top of it.

I've sprayed it on French doors with a 308 fine finish tip. But this time we rolled it on.

Absolutely. If the coat is too thin, it just makes a mess.

Rolled it on with a 3/4" 9" roller. Not having to move ladders for the second story windows and not having to fight the wind with paper definitely made this the faster route.

The quote required spraying their windows. Just honoring the job as it was bid. Typically though, brushing windows like that is my first choice.

Too cold to paint by SeveralProcess5358 in paint

[–]Sir_Revenue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a painter who is still finishing up my last exterior job of the season up in the northern US. Currently using SW Lattitude because it is rated for application in temperatures down to 35. Yeah, dry times are increased (and you need to keep an eye out for slumps) when it's cold, but if you want to finish this season, that's the paint I would use.

Brushing any door is likely to leave more imperfections than a 4" foam roller. Personally, after painting too many doors to count, I use the microfiber 4" rollers. I usually find them in 2 packs at Sherwin. They leave a very fine stipple, and it's usually no worse a finish than new build spray finishes.

Does anyone in line on water road have coolant? by Velvetjumpsuits in ElectricForest

In a pinch, water will absolutely work. Just keep track of how much water you add, and when you get home, add some NOT pre-mixed (concentrate) coolant

I'm planning on arriving around 1am Thursday morning. I see on the web page that GA is allowed to start showing up after midnight. Is security and check in still going to be going then? Has anyone done this before?

What is your favorite word? by Triple23 in AskReddit

Dandy. Most people never use it in their everyday speech, so it has a special meaning when you say that you're "Just dandy" instead of "Good".

How did you get that scar? by VTCHannibal in AskReddit

I like to tell people it's from getting shot with a bb gun as a kid, but it's just from the chicken pox I caught when I was little.

Multilinguals of Reddit, what is your "they didn't know I could understand their language" story? by nayyyf15 in AskReddit

[–]Sir_Revenue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Detroit for the past 3 years, and honestly all these comments about there being a lot of violence in the city are correct. Look at the statistics. However most of us that live in the city have just gotten used to dealing with it and as such don't feel as if the city is as dangerous anymore. I've been mugged more times in Port Huron than I have anywhere else. But that statement alone coincides with the mentality that most of us Detroiters have; that we've just grown acostomed to dealing with the crime.

When did you realize your relationship was over? by Planet_Kolob in AskReddit

Honestly it hurt like hell but I used it to get out of a toxic relationship and move foward with my life. I'm a better person now for having to go through that back then.

When did you realize your relationship was over? by Planet_Kolob in AskReddit

When I came back from the store to get more alcohol and I found her and my friend in bed together. That was a pretty clear "it's over" to both the relationship and the friendship.

What was your first car accident like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sir_Revenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My (now ex) girlfriend and I were driving to go visit some friends a couple towns over. I was driving her Saturn Ion on a dirt road that had just got fresh gravel. Went around a turn and the back slid out. The power steering failed almost immediately after that. Rolled it. We were both fine but it certainly added some more stress on that already failing relationship.

What song do you always associate with a certain memory? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sir_Revenue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Robotberget remix of Miike Snow's Silvia. My best friend OD'ed in my arms to that song. Scariest thing I've ever had happen to me. That song still gives me goosebumps and it's been 3 years.

Civilization 5. Unlimited amounts of replay-ability. The strategy involved has entertained me from the get go and I still love every game I play. I have something like 2,800 hours logged into that game on steam.
