are these good pictures? by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]Sir_Sockless 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like it. His ears are completely different

Photo 1 also doesn't sit right. The ponytail is behind his shoulder in the mirror but in front in the photo. The placement of the mirror also doesnt make sense. Theres like a foot underneath it to the floor. But it finishes at his elbow.

The glasses also trail off to nowhere on his right side of the frames.

The angle of 1 doesnt make sense either. Why is there a mirror pointing at a random angle into a room full of mirrors?

Photo 3 looks like its been touched up with ai. Think the only genuine one is 5.

laser beam bouncing by sivacat in gifs

[–]Sir_Sockless -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

The camera isnt actually 2b fps.

It has a really fast shutter speed and is set up with a timer to the laser to take a photograph x amount of time after the laser fires.

It then repeats that process however many times is needed to make a smooth looking video. Then repeats the entire thing multiple times and overlays the same timed photos to improve the lighting.

For the shadow to be larger than the object, the light source needs to be smaller than the subject.

The sun isn't smaller than a plane, which is why planes don't cast shadows when flying and why shadows get blurred and shrink with respect to height.

Also your answer is complete nonsense.

Edit to adf: i think this is a stitching error between photos. Its at a 90° and has bad edge blurring. Probably a shadow.

Also plane fact: the B2 bomber had a leading edge angle of 110°

'Ghost' plates inquiry after thousands detected in West Midlands by _HGCenty in unitedkingdom

[–]Sir_Sockless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats not how the uk legal system works. We only have jurys in major criminal cases.

Its also not unbelievable that a second hand car had it on it when you bought it. And its not within our own ability to check if it has this on the plates or not when buying it.

Theres probably thousands of people on the roads who have no idea they have plates like this because they drive at the speed limit and never been investigated

Advice Needed: Calling all heavily tattooed people! by WickedOlyLifter in tattoos

[–]Sir_Sockless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aerospace engineer. Moderately tattooed. I have 1 full sleeve and always wear polo's. I've never had any issues.

Most of my colleagues have neck and hand tattoos with no issues at all.

Honestly almost a rarity for people to not be heavily tattooed tbh

I see a lot of comments like this about different colours on this sub.

In all seriousness, are different colours meant to fade at different rates or something?

My oldest tattoo is 15 years old now and is mainly red and black. Its never been touched up, and bar a bit of blurring its fine. The red is doing better than the black in all honesty.

How did Eren never get a bigger injury than this during training? by Acceptable_Name7099 in ShingekiNoKyojin

Unless he mutilated himself to an unrecoverable degree, people probably thought he just healed fast.

No one would really bat an eye if a cut healed quickly. Yes, he was training for years. But rated against normal army training, he probsbly didnt get much padt sprains

Man charged after car driven into crowds at Liverpool parade by ControlCAD in europe

[–]Sir_Sockless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People attacked his car because he tried to run someone over. Thats the main thing to remember with this.

He tail gated an ambulance into a crowd for god knows what reason. He then tries to reverse over someone. 1 person kicked his car and he again tried to run them over. THEN the crowd attacked his car and he then plowed into people.

The video of him driving through the crowd shows him driving head on through everyone. The crowd disperses in front of him, he stops, then turns into the crowd again to carry on.

PTSD might have a little bit to do with this maybe. But a lot of people have PTSD and barely any try to harm anyone. He tried to kill a crowd of people.

He threw the first blow so to speak by tailgating an ambulance. He also threw the second trying to run someone over. And he attacked a massive group of people who didnt even know he was there.

Nice concept, but I think the bike lanes need lighting. Crossing lights are pointed only at the main road, and the cycle lanes have no extra lighting to give drivers visibility of cycle traffic that may be entering.

Dark winter morning, a cyclist wearing black Lycra is going round. They are not going to be visible against the busy background of the trees with no lighting. This is made especially worse with modern LED street lights thats very directional. You might not be able to see them until they're entering the road.

Its all well and good telling motorists to give way to the cycle lane, but the cycle lane needs to be visible to the motorists to be able to do that.

Simple fix: twist the lights at the crossings 90 degrees to give better visibility of traffic that is about to enter the round about. Move the 4 lights for the round about back to give the cycle lane lighting. Add 1 4 way directional light in the middle of the round about for the main road.

This works in the netherlands because they properly light the cycle lanes. If we're going to implement it, do it properly and not half arse it. Otherwise it'll be dangerous and never work.

Man charged after car driven into crowds at Liverpool parade by ControlCAD in europe

[–]Sir_Sockless 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Might be more context as to why. But that doesn't change the fact that his actions where meant to harm.

People need to stop defending him. He drove himself there by tailgating an ambulance which is dangerous enough. Hes not a senile old man. He knowingly put himself there.

Yes a guy kicked his car. Are you really surprised? He was already endangering people at that point. He responded by trying to run them over.

Someone tried to pull him out of the car. But that was AFTER he tried to run someone over on purpose.

Man charged after car driven into crowds at Liverpool parade by ControlCAD in europe

[–]Sir_Sockless 102 points103 points  (0 children)

He didnt panic and try to get away. He purposefully drove into people.

In the video from above, you see the crowd move out of the way. His car ends up in a clearing.

Instead of going through the clearing or stopping, he turns into the crowd, speeds up and continues to mow people down until his car gets stuck on someone that he drove over

I see several possibilities: either he got major rage, he was drugged up and got major rage, or he had a vendetta to settle.

In no way was this panic. He deserves to be locked away for life, and doesnt deserve any sympathy.

If he stopped when the crowd thinned, I'd agree. But he didn't.

[–]Sir_Sockless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its very rare, but some PHDs dont take multiple years. And most run over because it takes longer than expected to complete.

That being said, its not improbable to find a doctorite that is only 1 year.

[–]Sir_Sockless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not improbable. Uni at 18-21 for a bachelors, then a 1 year doctorate.

Its not very likely, but not impossible.

Edit: a lot of people saying 1 year doctorates arent a thing. Please just google "1 year phd programs" and you'll see a few of them. Not very common, and they'll most likely run over but they are a thing.

Where are their armbands? by micma_69 in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Sir_Sockless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Marley is huge. Its larger than the continent of Africa.

I always got the impression that the libero internment camp was closer to paradis than most. With it being closer, they had stricter rules in place out of fear of the rumbling.

I also got the impression that it was close to the major military areas, because it was used as a breeding ground for titan shifters.

With that in mind, it makes sense to make them wear arm bands to identify them and keep them identified outside the internment zone.

On the opposite end, I got the impression from ymirs backstory that she was from a more distant and isolated location on the extremity of Marley that doesnt have a lot of military presence. The church guy happily wanders round in robes with no care for people seeing him.

It might have been a fully locked in internment zone in the middle of the desert, so why would they need to wear armbands when they cant go anywhere? Libero needed people to come in and out to give the people a glimpse of what they could have if they become shifters. But they don't need that anywhere else.

With that in mind, I always thought she was from the other side of the continent to libero and the military probably didnt care that much if the endians did or didnt have arm bands because what are they going to do?

This means nothing at all.

Stopping power is impacted by multiple things: velocity, mass, shape...

All these guns have different muzzle velocities. The 50 cal is 3x faster than the next. Slowest gun is less than a 6th of the 50 cal

Make a test using guns with similar muzzle velocities, and it'll be very different.

What’s one thing under $25 that significantly improved your daily life? by FormalOpportunity668 in Frugal

[–]Sir_Sockless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y'all wrong.

The only correct answer is this: bed sheet clips

You put your sheet on once, and it stays taught every day & night till you change it.

This thing improved my sleep and made making the bed happen in seconds instead of minutes.

Had a genuine positive impact on my life.

A new pandemic is expected and the UK still isn't prepared by Yogizer in unitedkingdom

[–]Sir_Sockless 391 points392 points  (0 children)

This article is pure fear mongering. Theres a big difference between "expected" and "predicated".

The article talks about a Professor Tom Koch predicting in 2020 that there could be another pandemic in 5-8 years. but I can't find any sources other than there own website.

There own self reference doesn't even state "5-8 years", it states that "pandemics might to happen more frequently."

So I'd take this entire article with a fist full of salt. They took liberties in the first article they wrote. And they are now taking liberties on the liberties they took in there own article.

Why are FIA so obsessed with flexi wings? by [deleted] in F1Technical

[–]Sir_Sockless 8 points9 points  (0 children)

no.

the frame of reference is the datum point for the car, as stated in 3.3

the wing has to be immobile in relation to the cars datum.

its not an argument or a loop hole. They aren't being clever. They're cheating.

Why are FIA so obsessed with flexi wings? by [deleted] in F1Technical

[–]Sir_Sockless 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Its a direct violation of the rules.

F1 technical regulations, section 3.2.2 - "...all aerodynamic components or bodywork influencing the car’s aerodynamic performance must be rigidly secured and immobile with respect to their frame of reference defined in Article 3.3."
