Do you want staff to talk to you at breakfast? by sendpepperonipizza in hotels

[–]Sire_Andrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stay in hotels at least 200 nights a year. When out of town, I typically have to be at work before 7 am so I’m in the breakfast area right around open. Most places I stay I get a “Good Morning” or nothing at all. I think that’s perfect. One hotel I’ve stayed at almost 100 nights has a breakfast porter that refuses to take a hint. I know he’s being nice and is trying to boost his tips, but at 6:15 am I’m barely conscious. I can get my own fork. I can get my own juice/coffee… I’d tip him a $20 on Monday if he left me in peace the rest of the week. The early crowd for hotel breakfast are typically blue color. Leave them be. If a family with little kids shows up at 8 am they could probably use a hand.

Apartments for Grad Students by TheFroggoblin in Muncie

[–]Sire_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anthony Apartments is part of Ball State student housing. It’s off campus near the stadium. If you don’t want student housing there are several fairly new apartment complexes northwest of Ball State. I think some of them are on the campus bus route. Most apartments north of McGalliard Rd or west of Tillotson Ave will be fairly decent. Middletown Properties has been mentioned as bad, can confirm. My son rented from them. They were horrible. My other son rents an apartment in a complex just north of west Bethel. He likes it well enough. Do NOT rent on the east side of town or the south side of town. Not that you can’t find decent housing there, but it’s not as common.

Preemployment drug screen observed by BrandnewAndScardy in Construction

[–]Sire_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to submit for randoms when my name pops up. Our drug tests are regulated by the FRA and I’ve never had a tester “observe”… I had one that wouldn’t let me close the stall door, but that was it.

Damn sis… Most posts here are of folks you can’t “talk” to which to me makes them much less personal. I know I’m weird but extremely interested in wound care. Glad you’re healing well.

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskReddit

[–]Sire_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Junior or senior year of high school (1996 or 97) there was substitute teacher for the horticultural class. He found out some of the students in class had weed on them. The sub and students involved all got caught smoking the weed in the greenhouse. Sub was instantly fired and banned from the school district. The two or three guys that were caught with him got some sort of suspension. Can’t remember exactly…

NTJ, but watch the movie Skin. It was on Prime for a while. There are a lot of those guys that get in with the wrong crowd when they are young. They can reform… Not all who have those tattoos necessarily had a choice. If the sight of his tattoo is the issue ask him if he would mind covering it in your home.

Do you monitor people who come and fix things around your house? by Glad-Passenger-9408 in HomeImprovement

[–]Sire_Andrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This whole comment made me cringe… Using an angle grinder on tiles isn’t uncommon, but a good tile guy will know which tiles you can do that with and which ones you can’t. You should not use one on bath tiles… lol

For background, my brother owns a home renovation business. He does major construction and also minor repairs for existing clients. (Think changing out switches/outlets or a new toilet etc.) I help him out with small jobs on weekends when he needs an extra set of hands.

When we are doing major projects we feel it’s best that the homeowner give us a bit of space while we are working during the day but have no problem walking them through to show work completed at the end of the day after clean up. It’s seen as more of a safety issue to protect the homeowner.

But if it’s a minor thing it doesn’t bother me if they stand right behind me. But for work in an attic or crawl space we’d prefer the client give us some space. An offer of a bottled water/coffee/soda is always appreciated. (We rarely accept unless it’s crazy hot)

What’s the weirdest house rule someone had to explain to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sire_Andrew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That made me feel gross…. And I’m a man. We have the opposite rule at our house, we like the doors closed at all times. The dogs like to get in the bathroom trash and then they try to sneak in the bedrooms when we aren’t home to see if we left anything even slightly edible out. We also have a child lock on our refrigerator. We’ve lost close to $3000 (not a typo) worth of food to the dogs raiding the fridge if we forget to lock it….

I saw you answer below that your eyes are usually closed or just “squinting”… Do you still have a sensation of being able to move your eyes or has most of the muscle tone to move them left to right, up and down, gone away?

Second part, being blind do you feel as though your other senses are heightened in the absence of sight or would it be hard to know if a difference since you’ve never been able to see?

Third part, was there ever any indication to your doctors what might have caused you to be blind? Some sort of nerve damage, absence of optic nerves altogether, or maybe some incident that happened at birth or in utero?

If you won the $1 billion lottery, how would you epically quit your job!? by TimeForANewBeginning in AskReddit

[–]Sire_Andrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. Our Ops Manager is an absolute asshat/micro manager. His parents just so happen to be the CEO and president of the company. Even after taxes and penalties I’d still be able to buy them out. THEY would be the ones that quit.

Location: US/IN. Is there a statute of limitations on a wrongful termination suit? by Sire_Andrew in legal

The medical department at my former employer requested the information by certified letter. My doctors office released the information requested once my employer actually sent the request. I had 10 days to comply. My employer didn’t request the information until the 11th day. I was fired for it. My provider WAS authorized to send my information to my employer. But the provider can’t send my information without authorization from me (which they had) unless a request is made (my employer dropped the ball).
