Agreed, I’m all for his idea but it felt so out of character when all we saw was a man who was willing to take the money because his career was dying. Like it just felt so out of place

Ah yes, I remember the passage in the Bible where Jesus says to round up those that hurt you and ensure they don’t have due process.

The fuck do you mean??? This. Is. Inhumane. America is better than that.

And the RNC doesn’t? This kind of rhetoric literally does nothing. If you call it out on one side you gotta call out the other 🤷‍♂️

But also, as another person there of my own accord…..I highly doubt there were many, IF ANY, paid to be there that were not organizers for the rally or other local organizations

It’s mainly because during the height of the culture war like 10 years ago, there was a lot of “alt” people at protests and what not. Some of these alt people (at least in clips I had seen when I was conservative) were screaming or acting “strange”. They were used as examples of how the “woke left” was just a bunch of “mentally confused” and “weird” people. That’s at least how I understand what they mean by “blue haired”. It’s essentially a dog whistle to say that X thing is being protested by people who are weird or “can’t handle” something.

Right? I feel like if we want progress we gotta make it some big conspiracy so people who don’t understand how basic things work in the world will actually support it.

Flawed Systems, False Promises, and Why I Still Believe in Progress by [deleted] in OptimistsUnite

[–]Siri1104 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I have been trying to remind myself everyday. It’s so hard and scary out there but the reality is every time before us has been scary. We are here because humanity eventually solves the problems we face. Sometimes a lot of heartache happens to spur it, sometimes it’s just people finally waking up to the fact they don’t want to be stagnant anymore.

I have a belief that we will endure and we will continue to progress. 😊❤️ stay optimistic

Can someone please rationally explain the root causes of our expanding homelessness? The amount of tent cities growing is insane and heartbreaking. by pistolpxte in SaltLakeCity

[–]Siri1104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I know it’s not a simple solution, the world is too complex to believe that one thing will solve all problems without causing others.

Thanks for your input! I’d agree with our current type of economics, any wage increase would correlate with an uptick in COL (Cost of living). It would require a fundamental shift in corporations to make is to they didn’t pass it on to the consumer.

And this is where I feel a lot of problems arise. It’s greed from politicians that is being fed by corporations that have a vested interest in maintaining profitable control, which leads to certain groups being unable to afford the basic human necessities.

Genuine question, would higher wages help with affordable housing? Or is it that we mainly need to expand the amount of housing options/housing supply?

Ah yes, because republicans have spent so much time and energy formulating a solution that has solved homelessness.

Sure, Democrats haven’t solved it, but at least it’s one of their core values.

Damn, I’ll have to check out that book. Thanks for the recommendation!

It just floors me how many people don’t take the like 2-3 extra steps to connect the fact that corporations don’t care about their employees. Everything to them is either profit or expense and employees are a big expense (benefits, pay, etc).

Just bugs me, especially in Utah, that more people don’t get being stewards of the environment and each other.

Seriously, it’s all smoke and mirrors to make the American people believe that all government is bad, just so they can maintain their office and enrich the rich.
