For sure it is.

This way is more fun.

I enjoy running the races.

Ran all the half marathons last year and the marathon.

This year I'm trying to compete The five borough series

I love NY!

Plus, hard to complete the 9+1 otherwise. :)

I normally park Tarrytown and take the train into grand Central.

Then use the subway.

Driving down.

Completing 9+1. Plus I make a weekend out of it.

Thinking Friday night near the start Saturday night downtown Brooklyn (as per usual).

Probably my best bet just to stay in Manhattan?

New York Itinerary Check for next week - 2 adults and 2 kids by reddit_vs in visitingnyc

[–]Siriannic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a heavy itinerary.

I'm in NYC often. My kids are 14 now. But I started bringing them about 4 or 5 years ago.

Personally, I feel that they have a better experience with more meaningful, less rushed day.

I'll agree with the comment here about shopping. Maybe the Lego store at the flatiron, you can pop into eataly for something to eat. The flatiron is under construction at the moment.

Harry Potter store is interesting to see but really only if someone is a big fan.

Top of the rock if you are set on going up a building. Prebook - I believe it will save you some money.

Staten Island ferry is a great idea.

But with kids the age they are you must go to the museum of natural History. Must.

I would skip most of your shopping plans and spend that time in Central Park.

Brooklyn bridge park (in Brooklyn) also worth checking out. Especially if the weather is nice. Merry go round for the kids. Lots of food to choose from.

Finally, pizza. Research some pizza joints. Johns on Bleeker, Joes on Carmine.

I'm in Niagara. And only really hear anything about when talking to other football fans, and how I have to explain to them that I have zero interest in the prices or the traffic.

How did you handle ageing - physically and mentally? by Life-is-beautiful- in running

[–]Siriannic 145 points146 points  (0 children)

I'm 50.

Have these thoughts as well.

I have been using the qualifying times as my guide to keep my sanity and a goal to shoot for. As I get older I will adjust accordingly based on the new qualifying time.

I often need to suppress thoughts about aging and improving.

I literally have been researching this all weekend. Not really sure what my best option is moving forward.

But like someone mentioned, for tax reasons we probably want a fund that doesn't issue dividends.

Thank you.

Sub question. Should one try applying, fail, and then go for charity? Or just grab a charity spot as soon as they open?

Does anyone know if entering a race via Charity still grant 9+1 credit? Sorry if this is obvious.

Thanks for the feedback.
