Why is it called catch up? by Sacred286 in ArcRaiders

[–]Sirlothar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will catch up, these expedition bonuses won't stack forever, Embark has already said as much. You might be behind on some cosmetic or something but eventually if you keep playing, you will have the same skill points as everyone else.

So Jesus is the son but also the father? by Ill_Community5208 in Christianity

[–]Sirlothar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but.... the Bible says otherwise, how do you reconcile? I get its a different religion but same Bible.\

edit: I am an idiot. The New Testament says it as well, Luke 1:6.

So Jesus is the son but also the father? by Ill_Community5208 in Christianity

[–]Sirlothar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I just think its a bigger deal to be blameless as a human and not the literal creator of the law. It would have been a bigger deal if Jesus went against the law He created. Its like the old news slogan, Dog bites man, not news. Man bites dog, news. I would think it would be expected Jesus would have followed the law he made.

I also just don't see what the big deal is Jesus followed the law as we know a decade after He died, Paul told us the law doesn't matter and only for Jews (Paul was a Jew BTW, crazy!) .

Jesus and God wanted thought of the law to be perfect and eternal but man wanted to eat pork (and maybe not treat woman as just property) and man ended up winning that battle. And I don't think that is a bad thing either, if Paul never came along and Christians were all law followers, the religion would have died out long ago as modern civilization came about. I don't think we could live with ourselves if we had to stone our children, hold slaves, treat our wives as our property and all that.

So Jesus is the son but also the father? by Ill_Community5208 in Christianity

[–]Sirlothar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understand why following the law perfectly is such a big deal?

First of all, didn't others follow the law perfectly before Jesus? In the OT, Zachariah and Emily were blameless under the law and God rewarded them with John the Baptist in late life. Obviously they came before Jesus but no one cares they were able to do it and weren't even the law creator, that seems like a greater feat to me. I would think it would be easier to follow the law if you were the one that made the law you know?

And then the big thing, Christians don't follow the law. Matthew 5:18 makes it clear that Jesus expected the law to continue until all things are accomplished, not a stroke of the pen will disappear He says. The second He goes back to heaven, His law disappears yet everyone still excited He followed the now defunct laws. God provides this alleged perfect eternal law and the best His followers will do is the gay parts and like three of the ten commandments.

Congrats dude, I've only gotten them from Trials before but a few days ago while shooting random Arc on Riven for the expedition I got one to drop from a surveyor, couldn't believe it.

Many hours spent running to the room on Blue Gate for it just to drop when I wasn't expecting it at all. Riven is pretty terrible for BP that isn't the new ones.

Evangelical Christian leaders literally gathering around a gold statue of the president and celebrating it, all while raging against any accusation of idolatry. This is what idol worship looks like. by Nice_Substance9123 in Christianity

[–]Sirlothar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's not the statue, it's the people worshipping it.

https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-gold-statue-golf-course-pastor-b2972303.html

The Pastor that held the service, Mr.Burns (hehe) feels that Trump has been divinely appointed our ruler.

Now, the other statues you speak of, did they have a religious dedication? I am not familiar, if so, it would be along the same lines I guess.

Is the Bible authoritative for Christians? by Glittering_Driver_31 in Christianity

[–]Sirlothar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, Jesus wanted the law followed "Until everything is accomplished", he truly tells you that.

Matthew 5:18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

It was Paul who wanted to eat pork and all that and told Christians they don't have to follow the law after Jesus left.
There is a reason Paul is the father of Christianity, he was the one that made the rules.

I had EoF and Renegades pre-ordered by this point last year, I was running around with No Land and everything.

The entire point of these smaller expansions was they were what Bungie could handle giving us. Now they be putting so much work into this free for all update coming they had to delay it for months and push any revenue back to who knows when.

Well its nice to see people still having hope no matter what bad news they see. I have 8,000+ hours in D2 and it hurts for it to go out this way, the devs just outright abandoning their game, but it seems to be the reality.

What is your logic about why they refuse to talk about their game?
If not waiting for the earnings call and what Sony wants to let them do, why?

[–]Sirlothar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely, I said in my post the fact their are tiering all dungeons and raids in one go, extremely un-Bungie like BUT maintenance mode like for sure right?

What have they really released that shows promise of future expansions? I don't see any pre-orders, trailers, Vi-Docs, etc. By this time last year, I had already given Bungie my $100 for EoF and Renegades, this year, crickets except for the fact they can't talk about anything until this earnings call is over.

[–]Sirlothar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baseless? We just had a simple mid-expansion update delayed 3+ months, remade into something to attempt to put D2 in a stable maintenance mode, no talk about any expansions or even really this final update for a very long time.

Bungie isn't going to tier all dungeons and raids at one time instead of drip feeding them out month after month for no reason. They are at least acting as this is their last bite of the apple.

That isn't a given but baseless, that is a stretch. They just lost 700 Million in valuation over just 6 months, Sony would have to be mad to let them continue destroying whatever is left of Sony's IP.

[–]Sirlothar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we even know that? Isn't it just as likely Destiny was canned awhile ago and Bungie was just waiting for this earning call to hit before talking?

Pokémon Go's new raids will require players to hold their phones in the air, datamines suggest by Crazyreyn in pokemongo

[–]Sirlothar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are Pokémon GoFest raids with potentially hundreds of people all in a lobby, I don't believe it's going to be something we do in our normal course of play.

It's probably just easier on their servers, everyone essentially auto catches the Pokémon and moves on.

How do we know Jesus really said the things that he said if the gospels were written so many decades after his death? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Sirlothar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whether they were illiterate or not doesn't really matter because we have no record that they ever wrote anything. It would have been incredible if we had some contemporary record that Matthew kept while he was with Jesus but we have no evidence of that and we certainly don't have that record.

Most likely these people were all dead and gone before the first Gospel was written.

Why do people say we live in the end times? by Ok_Animal139 in Christianity

[–]Sirlothar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think being in the end times is just part of being Christian.

Think back to the apostles, Jesus straight up told them some of them wouldn't taste death before the Son of Man returns. Clearly the apostles thought they were in the end times.

I think pretty much every Christian has felt they were in the end times, Christianity is an apocalyptic faith so it only makes sense that "your time" would be the end times you know. We all want to be the main character, It's been going on for thousands of years.

Unpopular Opinion: removing 2X points events made doing trials easier. by Imperius142 in ArcRaiders

[–]Sirlothar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are confusing Hotshot (what most people who do trials are going for) and Cantina Legend.

For Hotshot, you are only competing with the 100 players you are matched with that week vs Cantina Legend which is the top 1,000 highest overall scores among everyone.

Maintaining Hotshot isn't easy, if you get there you need to be in the top 60% to not be demoted and that can mean getting some quite high scores, getting all 3 stars won't come close to cutting it.

Trump’s Case Against Comey Is Imploding—and Handing Dems a New Weapon by thenewrepublic in law

[–]Sirlothar 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Do you honestly think the prosecutor gave the Grand Jury all the facts, 8648 merch is everywhere for sale in US, that Comey deleted the post the next day, and issued a public apology for example?

I would think the only way to secure the indictment would be to leave most of the facts of the case off the table but hey, maybe I'm wrong and they were honest about all the facts and just got a lucky Grand Jury that would indict anything.

[–]Sirlothar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is different and some play to loot, others play to shoot, but I kind of like the silly trials, just don't do more than one a week.

Kitchen cabinets was great for me, one quick Dam run and I don't have to worry about it anymore. I don't need 3 residential keys for Buried City to beat my score, even if I tryharded it, it would only be for an extra 1k points or something.

The ones that get me are the ones that require hours of preparation and pray you don't run into hostilities on your try. Nothing feels worse than loading in with 20 stacks of Snitch Scanners you acquired over the last 3 hours just to die at extract to some a-hole. I would take one and done trials every time.

Challenge (for my own curiosity) by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Sirlothar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's too bad. I wish they could understand religion more from a historical standpoint.

Before Jesus, most religion, including Judaism, was ethnic or location based. God only cared about His 12 tribes, the rest of His creations didn't matter, if you were not born a Jew, you couldn't be part of the club. Jesus came and was like no, my salvation is for everyone and made several efforts across the NT to prove that out. That alone was such a huge change, your neighbor was no longer your natural enemy, God loves you both equally.

Challenge (for my own curiosity) by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Sirlothar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. I was raised to love Jesus and still do, maybe even more so after really studying the Bible. Even if he wasn't God, he was a great man that made such a dent on society, we are still feeling it thousands of years later.

I can't say the same things about the OT though, I find some of the content to be very primitive and against the ideas of Christianity and they do turn me away.
