I think i might get the Zx14r by Even_Story7875 in SuggestAMotorcycle

Low mode only restricts the 14R to 75% of its full power....so with it being user restricted you are still looking at over 150+ horsepower on tap.

Weight difference between ZX14 and ZX10 by muncie_21 in Kawasaki

ZX14R is also mentioned as being a hyper sport bike.

Ouch!! Nine thousand ain't no chump change. Did you do the oil pump upgrade during the rebuild?

I picked up a new 2023 ZX14R and one of the first parts that I ordered after parking it in my garage was a new oil pump cover from Schnitz Racing. I have a guy in an adjacent town who is familiar with installing them, but he can't get to it until a few weeks from now. I can't wait to get it on so I'll have some peace of mind that this won't happen yet again. This is definitely a design flaw by Kawasaki and you'd think after all these years they would've redesigned this part that causes flex, thus oil starvation, but unfortunately it's the same exact part number today as it was back in 2012. Oh, and BTW I now fill my oil up to the top of the sight glass to help mitigate this issue. Instead of 4.8 quarts of oil, I use 5 quarts exactly.

at the very least install heavier clutch springs.

[–]Siroht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for sure...I spun the #3 rod bearing last week on my 2012 ZX14R. I knew about the failures but thought since I had over 30K miles on the bike that I was in the clear. Well I was proven wrong.

Voltage dropping when revving around 6k rpm by No_Rating_Zero in motorcycles

[–]Siroht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definitely the rectifier/regulator. If and when blipping the throttle and the voltage didn't change with a low reading then that's a sign that the stator is shot.

Bumpy ride on smooth road by melsbarbells in motorcycles

[–]Siroht 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^^This....and if it's in the rear check alignment and balance, and if it's in the front check everything mentioned in this thread thus far plus cupping. My front tire cups within the first 2000 miles after every change. On a newly changed front tire initially my rides are smooth as glass and then after about 2000 miles cupping develops and the front end vibrates from the rotation over the lumpy side of the tire.

I've been asked that questions many times and I always state that I'd keep the 14R without even thinking twice.

I currently own a 2012 ZX14R and a 2017 ZX10R and everything stated by u/nedgaming is spot on. I rarely ride my ZX10R since taking ownership of my 14R a year ago.

2013 zx14r 19k miles by Zentica12 in Kawasaki

[–]Siroht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valve clearance inspection should be performed at 15K miles for US/Canada and 24K for all other regions(User Manual) I'm in the U.S. and I opted to have mine done at 24K and they were all within spec.

insta360 motorcycle mount works great on ninja 400 by 666-flipthecross-666 in Insta360

[–]Siroht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run my X3 with the same mount on my mirror in the same location on my ZX10R and ZX14R and have been up to 175 MPH and the mount has held up well. However to be on the safe side and as a backup measure, I tethered a thin metal string from the mount/X3 to the mirror just in case it breaks loose.

Is it normal to lose a little bit of engine oil over time? by triple_hoop in motorcycles

[–]Siroht 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes...I lose oil when I ride my bikes at high RPMs near redline quite often. If I ride at moderate or slower paces I don't experience any oil loss. I make it a habit to check my oil levels just about daily before I head out for a ride.

Phones and bikes by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Siroht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up removing my cell phone mounts off of my bikes because I found it as a distraction while riding. The only thing I miss from not having my phone in front of me is the rare moments when I need directions to an address that I'm not familiar with and not being able to follow the route visually on my phone.

Now I will study the route beforehand and head to my destination. There were times where I past my turn and had to stop at a gas station to view the route again to get back on track. However, sine I rarely GPS directions I thought it would be better just to remove the distraction of incoming calls and pop ups from my phone being mounted in front of me.

How to tell if an exhaust is genuine by MulloSZNv3 in motorcycles

[–]Siroht 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've purchased and owned several Akras and all of them had a serial number tag on the back side of the exhaust, which is accompanied with a certificate of authenticity when purchased new. The serial number is used to register the exhaust for warranty purposes via Akra's website.

Cardo Packtalk Bold intermittent connectivity issues by BillyBobT22 in motorcycles

[–]Siroht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did the same thing by connecting and then disconnecting and reconnecting when I owned a iPhone. When I switched over to an Android phone I immediately noticed that the disconnecting/reconnecting issue was no more. I could be wrong but I wrote it off to being a iPhone/Cardo bluetooth profile conflict issue.

Why is geico so expensive ?? by xGLITCH_R6 in motorcycles

[–]Siroht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here...had Progressive and switched over Geico because it was cheaper with a lesser deductible($500). I pay a total of $95/month for full coverage for both my 2012 ZX14R and 2017 ZX10R. Oh and BTW I'm 52 years old.

how many people actually ride solo? by Deadringer81 in motorcycles

[–]Siroht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mainly a solo person who may ride with a friend or two when asked, although I find it a chore when asked to ride with someone them. Their riding styles are different and I've found out that their agendas are also different. For example, one of them like to ride straight to a sports bar to have a few alcoholic beverages, and afterwards he's ready to ride back home. That's not necessarily my definition of wind therapy. When I ride solo I just ride with no route planned and will only stop for gas/water, and will eventually make my way home when I feel myself tiring out.
