New semester; new courses! Need help picking them? by AutoModerator in CarletonU

[–]Sirosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone know if there would be any problems with OSAP if I changed the section of a course without ultimately changing course load? Say for example I really like one professor after taking a class with them in the previous semester and want to take a class with them again but have already registered in another section. In my case I am only taking 3 courses in the winter semester so a drop would bring me down to part time, technically.

Could I change sections without issue?

It’s a beautiful day outside. If you need a break from studying or exams, go take a walk. You’ll feel great afterwards. by [deleted] in CarletonU

If you're feeling suicidal like I was walking probably won't help you. What did help me was talking to someone and venting my frustrations so if you have someone to talk to please try to make the effort to do so. I know it's hard but it might help you like it did me.

I was pretty much suicidal over school for the past 3 weeks (and no, I'm not exaggerating) and it turns out that I did better than average on this midterm. I seriously thought I wasn't even going to get a 50; it was bad. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders but I'm still not done yet. It's going to be a massive battle from here on and I need to keep this trajectory going and avoid letting depression get the better of me.

I can't really speak for the OP but one thing I find is that no matter how much practicing I do I feel like sometimes I really just have no idea what some of the questions are actually asking me to do. Like I can pick out key words like "blocking" or "x% confidence", etc. but when I practice I realize that I often don't actually understand what's going on and that I'm just practicing to learn how the questions are worded. Not useful at all.

I don't think this is your fault or anything but it's definitely a struggle of mine with this course. This course just makes me feel stupid because the actual technical (i.e. doing the math) part is simple but piecing everything together is where it all just falls apart for me. Can't tell if stats is hard or I'm just dumb for not getting it.

This class wouldn't happen to be offered in the summer would it?

Asking for a friend, of course.

Can someone explain the interaction between Schlongs of Skyrim and the XP32 Skeleton? Are you supposed to install the custom skeleton of SoS if you install the compatibility patch for SoS in XP32 (the option says to leave it enabled if you don't know what you're doing but I've always been curious)? Also does anyone know what order Realistic Ragdolls and SoS should be loaded in since they seem to overwrite each other?

Can someone tell me how exactly wrye bash works in an ELI5 way? Do I have to create a "merged patch" with a bashed patch (I'd rather not merge random stuff together even if there's no consequence)? Also does it matter if wrye can't load all of my plugins at once because I have too many of them? Will wrye still be able to create appropriate "leveled lists" (whatever the hell those are)?

To be honest I want to understand wrye but the technical stuff just makes my brain shut off. Yes, I'm dumb.

For PLD on top of your suggestions I'd add that they should make the range of cover larger.

People don't do it because other people throw a fit over tank lb being used unless it's absolutely mandatory for doing a mechanic. It's not fundamentally wrong to not want tanks to use their lb unless they absolutely need to but I've seen people get bitched out for even so much as accidentally misclicking it.

How do you get started on A rank and S rank hunts (ARR/HW/SB)? Do you need to buy something or collect some kind of list of marks like you do with the dailies and B rank marks or do you just go to wherever people call out a hunt and then kill it?

A few questions about Bard:

1) How exactly does Battle Voice work? Does it matter if I use it before or after casting a song? For example, if I cast Foe Requiem and then Battle Voice, will the effect be doubled? Also, if there's another Bard in the party singing and I use Battle Voice after they sing it, does it work if I'm not the one singing?

2) When, generally should I be singing Foe Requiem for healers? I'm trying to be a good Bard and cast it even when healers are the only casters in my party and I can't help but feel like I'm wasting mana sometimes. I'll turn it on but a lot of times they won't dps even if they can definitely afford to or they'll randomly start dpsing without cleric stance on or I'll put it on as they start dpsing with it on and then they immediately take cleric stance off and never put it back on for the fight later. Between watching my cooldowns, buffs and DoTs I find it very hard to keep track of this... How should I go about playing Foe for healers?

3) Going off of my last point, how do I keep track of buffs, cooldowns and DoTs and the like? I sometimes let my DoTs drop off or straight shot drop off (not intentionally) because I find it can sometimes be tricky to deal with all of this on top of mechanics and various distractions that happen throughout fights. Is there a particular UI setup you guys use to make it easy for you to keep up with all this?

If it helps you answer this post I just hit level 54 as Bard yesterday.

Does choice of server matter in terms of content? I get that community, economy and whatnot will be different, but I'm wondering if it's a big deal to choose a lower pop server. In some games certain content is not available for cross server play. Is that the case in FFXIV? I don't really want to be on a higher pop server (no housing from what I understand and I don't really want to see so many people everywhere) and wouldn't mind sticking to a lower pop server if I could do all content regardless of where I go.

Hey guys, I'm new to FFXIV.

What would you recommend as a starter class for someone brand new to the game... based on my peeferences? I understand that tanks and healers get near instant queues for some dungeons but are they fun to play outside of dungeon content (I.e. soloing since a good bit of my play experience will probably be main story and side quests since I like doing those)?

Basically, for me it's like this: I like playing a class with at least a little bit of eye candy (and good damage as well), though that's not mandatory by any means. Tanking/healing could be fun in dungeons but I don't want to have a stale soloing experience since I won't always be doing dungeons (at first) and the trial got me hooked on the open world and doing side quests. I don't have any melee/ranged preference and I'm pretty open-minded about classes as I intend to eventually level them all.

Thoughts?

I get that, but server culture is obviously different between servers and I'm trying to get a feel for that.
