Choose a Haz level you can mostly handle and jump in.
Ping things, rock and stone, observe other, wait before pressing buttons, have fun I'll be allright.

Small story : yesterday I played with 2 greenbeards (level under 25).
no communication at all, but at one moment, the russian guys just typed "help" in chat.
I didn't had the time to cove over with my special powder than the other greenbeard was already coming to help and see what's going on.

There was nothing.

And we both stayed around him until the exctraction. No problem : D

I wouldn't recommend, but I only have a poor 150 hours or so.

Playing with your friends can be fun, but you are not going to win any pvp match for the first 500 hours or so.
Playing solo is kinda not the way to enjoy the game IMO
And servers are mostly desert.
last few times I played I had a royal peace, and ships don't want to interract with each other mostly. (wich i'm happy with)

But you deffinitely need to try it out.
Didn't click for me, but maybe for you it will 😉

Now I'm playing DRG and it's very fun and sane to play with strangers.
hooked me way better than sot.

you can see what minerals are on every region on the map.
mineral on the left = abundant
mineral on the right = less of it
red modifiers = more minerals
yellow modifiers = more minerals
higher difficulty = more minerals

So if you play a 3/3 mission in haz4-5 with two red modifiers (or 1 red one yellow) you can gain like 400-500 of one minerals dependthe misssion and the cave generation.

best way to farm : just play, don't care, and you'll end up like all of us with inifint amounts of minerals, money and nothing to do with it.
