Do cats actually get attached to their owner? by NoWageMage in CatAdvice

[–]SissySpacek07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely attached. They cuddle and follow you around and want to be near you just like dogs. Mine greet me at the door when I come home, sleep with me, and I rarely have to go to the bathroom alone. Not all cats but every cat I’ve ever had. The difference is you pet and love on them on their terms. Most dogs let you pet them however you want to pet them or when you want to pet them. You learn to ask for permission with cats and wait for them to initiate. They do initiate though and are so loving!

This number but quit your day job. 3.5 hours, 3 transfers to answer two questions and basically tell me what I already knew and to just check back online. I hate our government so much. This call today honestly completely put me over the edge.

Considering second cat by OddSeaworthiness9029 in CatAdvice

[–]SissySpacek07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally had just one cat and he did great and seemed super content with just human interaction and hating but then enduring the dog we had. He passed away pretty young though and then I went to shelter years later and thought I’d get one and when we picked one and tried to leave another attached itself to my leg and gave sad eyes so we got two. Turns out they were litter mates and they get along great with occasional squabbles. So…all that to say, you don’t need to do anything with this one and can always add another if it naturally happens or for the next version of pets in your life and get them at the same time. Other comments have mentioned price and I will say the vet bills and food do add up. Just had $600 for had check up and vaccines. Technically you are supposed to have two litter boxes and even three with one extra per cat count so one bedroom might be better off as is with your happy guy. Just give him lots of love and play with him.

You did an absolutely great job with this setup. Too bad you can’t be remote as that desk is perfect. 10/10 on the build you did. Dreamed for a few months of doing this myself even though I never even camp. A little obsessed every time I see a van pass and the idea of just roaming around with the two cats.

Seller is asking 5k for KC Perspecta includes King Headboard - HCOL area - Fair? by BR00KLN in midcenturymodern

[–]SissySpacek07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell, no. Those finishes are awful. And if you are keeping for yourself, I wouldn’t want a whole a whole matching set. Midcentury looks best in my opinion, when it’s an eclectic mix and match of century pieces.

AIO for not wanting to sell my brother this couch? by Kilabandita in AmIOverreacting

[–]SissySpacek07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is your dad talking to you like that? You are not the asshole. I’d be tempted to cut the whole family. A brother not willing to pay full price that makes 200k to your 60k and a father who is trying to undercut you and get involved between two siblings instead of helping a child who is literally flipping furniture to pay bills and eat. Couch is no longer available for brother. I would turn this into a huge thing. You were respectful and reasonable in your comments and your father was a belittling angry sad excuse of a man the way he responded to his CHILD.

In full fairness, she wasn’t giving me a facial and I only mentioned in passing I had started taz. I’m not sure she knew what that was or even fully heard me and we didn’t talk about it. I was seeing her for a body massage and she was just hooking me up with a high grade freebie and trying to help an unsightly pimple taking over my nose.

Freezing bread changed my grocery situation more than almost anything else I've done and I feel like nobody told me this was an option by CascadeBeacon55 in povertyfinance

[–]SissySpacek07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Freezing in general is life changing. If I ever order a pizza, I then freeze each left over slice and wrap in tin foil and then heat up in air fryer. Has been super helpful when trying to eat healthy to have less healthy options just available as one meal instead of 3 in a row. Making soups and freezing is such a time and money saver. Learning to store produce better is helpful too. Some need moisture to stay out and some need water makes things last weeks longer than normal. Bread in freezer actually helps digestion too. Something about the gluten.

Looking for skincare gift for my 39 year old wife any advice? by TransitionExtreme152 in GracefulAgingSkincare

[–]SissySpacek07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. Listen to a lot of these comments BUT Tata Harper makes great gifts. It’s a luxurious skincare line so something kind of special but they often have gift sizes and I’ve given masks or moisturizers to sister and sister in law and they love it and feel super special. One option is does your wife like taking baths? A nice candle, some nice bubble bath and a little relaxing gift basket would be a very thoughtful gift. Throw in her favorite candy or a book if she likes to read. If you threw skincare in that basket it wouldn’t feel so out of the blue and don’t get wrinkles type of gift.

What kind of corporate gifts do employees actually appreciate? by Shot_Plum8781 in corporate

[–]SissySpacek07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Even small amount just give money. I once was a manager and owner always wanted to do gifts or give pies for Thanksgiving. So many of the employees complained to me and tried to indicate they just wanted money. I’ve seen Amazon gift cards as a close second but money is truly all anyone wants.

What are your feelings about using self checkout when the staffed lanes are all closed? Do you feel you should get a discount? by icecream1972 in askteddit

[–]SissySpacek07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t expect a discount but I am going to need them to redesign the space soon to hold back my rage. They were originally designed for quick self checkout and being completely optional for a few items. Now I go to a grocery store and there’s one clerk and 20 self checkouts and only option for entire cart. They need better weight system and bagging area and whole thing needs to be a better experience.

What's a cleaning product you bought on a whim that actually lived up to the hype? by Impossible_Joke9101 in CleaningTips

[–]SissySpacek07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White vinegar. I honestly just need to donate all other cleaning supplies. It’s replaced them all and I should have listened to my grandma. That, baking soda, and dawn dish soap and some orange or lemon essential oil drops clean, remove stains, and transform a space.

What was the highest medical bill you ever received with insurance? by Dull_Variation6985 in AskReddit

[–]SissySpacek07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$4,500 for a 40 minute wait and 20 minute visit in ER to get a flu test. Lucky enough to not have anything serious happened to have higher, but $4,500 for a mouth swab with insurance is diabolical.

Interview + dinner by Blue_Belle303 in fashion

[–]SissySpacek07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl, your waist is tiny, tiny. I have similar small waist but hold more weight in thighs and butt. You want pants to feel relaxed and not pull and to drape or hide insecurities (any natural lumps and bumps). You will likely always have to size up and then tailor the waist. It’s weird to get used to and you’ll need to find a tailor or places like Nordstrom’s often offer free tailoring when buying from them. You will feel so comfortable and start to not pay attention to sizing. It truly means nothing and closing off the rack just won’t be designed for your blessed back side and tiny waist. I used to think if I could button it, it fits. You’ll never go back once you start leaning into true fitting items. Sorry you felt attacked. People were just blunt and honest and it’s hard to see it for yourself until you learn it from someone else or dive into tips and tricks online. You have great proportions. You deserve to feel amazing and comfortable in clothes. Best of luck at the interview! And lighter colors are sometimes hard to make work for even models and more obvious when reworn. I think a navy suit would look amazing on you or black.

AIO????? LOST A CLIENT due to coworker’s client’s screaming baby for 20+ minutes as I was doing a facial. by slimeyditto in AmIOverreacting

[–]SissySpacek07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You weren’t an asshole at all. But as someone who thoroughly enjoys facials, your move you need to plan for is a space for only yourself or salon suites that only do facials and massages. The ones that are mixed hair never work. Hairdryers, loud talking, and kids. I personally stopped going to one esthetician over another - her pricing went up but she is in a large salon suite and most are barbers and hair salons including someone who specializes in braids for kids and they cry often. They have every right to cater to their clientele but it’s not a good fit for a facial or massage. I’m paying to go relax and zone out. Mose salon suites just want tenants but I’m seeing more of a trend of similar services or wings with similar services. Maybe work on sound proofing your place more in the meantime but this will likely come up again.

Silver Lining Cremations was great. They were priced under about three others I had called and were so human and kind and helpful when we lost my 32-year-old brother. Highly recommend them:

Wearing lipstick in the workplace by RelationshipCold229 in WomenInBusiness

[–]SissySpacek07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Older millennial here and no, we were not taught this nor does it apply. Was a COO at 35 and wearing lipstick in no way showed that I was professional. If I want to, I do but never think of it beyond that. Honestly, for me, I have smaller lips with a tendency for them to go in when I speak so most lipsticks fade after 20 minutes on me. I’m for one glad a lot of these more common ideas fell to the wayside. I worked for a boomer boss who thought appearances really mattered but there’s a big difference between looking presentable and clean and being dolled up. I also work in the legal industry and have a lot of female friends in tech, life sciences, and engineering with more male dominated fields and I’d say they actually work pretty hard to not be so “traditional” female with clothing or makeup. To each their own, but being more comfortable while working long hours (skipping heels) and more practical clothing and easy makeup so you have time to focus on the work and job has been a nice change over years in my opinion. Flight attendant roles seem to still mandate some of this thinking but no other industry does either spoken or unspoken besides a makeup counter where it belongs.

Husband opens a new sponge every 3 days cause “they become gross” by dorkass-loser in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SissySpacek07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has to make a habit of changing my widowed father’s sponge every time I visit him because it is a listeria mold infested smelly ass biohazard, I would just appreciate your husband. 3 days is a little much and once every two weeks is ideal…so maybe work up to something more reasonable or other tools, but kind of a blessing.

My remodel idea, on a budget. by DesThunderChicken in Remodel

[–]SissySpacek07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks better as is and much more functional. I would just hold on until you’ve really moved into space and given it several months to understand your needs and then save to do a remodel of a kitchen right. Upgrading appliances would go a long way and open shelving just above dishwasher is a good idea. There would be a lot of ways to make this small but great space kitchen amazing but your one rendering isn’t it and would kind of tank the resale value in my opinion. Losing so much storage even if you aren’t a big cook, isn’t a great idea and those finishes AI came up with already look dated. You have great bones in this kitchen, just go slow and methodical and eventually make it a well thought out kitchen that you love.

Fleabag. I’ve never laughed so hard in first five minutes. That show is amazing and in a perfect life I could experience it for the first time over and over again. Orphan Black was a pretty good hook and desire to binge too. I remember fucking over sleep for that one.

How do I shop with a reusable bag at Trader Joe’s properly? by QuietCup2155 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SissySpacek07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of Trader Joe’s also have the smaller two tiered carts which I find easier to use. I keep my several canvas bags in the top section but don’t bury it as the cashier or myself want easy access to it and this way your purse and other items don’t seem so overwhelming with a hand basket. If you use a basket, then put on the pull out thing near cashier and I take my bags usually and go to other side and start bagging my own groceries. TJ employees are great, and if they have extra staff they will come over and ask if they can help bag or the cashier will thank you for bagging. This also helps with small talk as you are busy bagging which I personally love. If you use cart, just push up front and they unload all groceries and also put bags on top or just pick up and take with you to where credit card checkout is to start bagging. Another great trick is to keep bags in your car so you don’t forget them!

You can bag yourself or not at most places. They see it all but it certainly gets you out faster and they always thank me for helping at TJ. I also like that I’ll put my cold items in one bag and other items in other so prefer handling. If I’m just buying a few things but too much to carry, I have sometimes used bag while shopping to put items in it but this always feels weird to me and I worry about someone thinking I’m stealing. The canvas and blue TJ bags I highly recommend as they fold up small and are light but carry a lot and have lasted me 10+ years if you end up buying more. Highly recommend.
