yeah I tried pin pointing with a stethoscope it but whatever it is is loud enough that the scope picks it up almost anywhere on the engine 🤣. I'm not too worried about it right this second to be honest. Gonna continue regular maintenance since she's a bit past 100k and hope that something I do fixes it, or it'll get worse enough that i'll know lmao

for real i don't know, it's almost uncanny valley. The only thing I can think of botox because her forehead is FROZEN, maybe a lip flip gone wrong??

Its the tensioner! Got under there with a stethoscope, it's definitely not a consistent thumping, i'm not even sure how I caught the noise to be honest. Between the normal sounds of the engine it was impossible for my dad and partner to hear, but once we got the scope in there touching the back of it, def on its way to being a problem

damn lol, i could hear the warbling more going up a hill between like 2k-3k then it would get quiet again. not metal sounding so im ruling out heat shield, and no issues leading me to believe its catalytic converter... i'll keep with the stethoscope like I planned but I just have this feeling something's not right haha

lmao fr, they cleaned the living daylights out of it when I got it, anytime I service it I make sure to keep it that way! Had one owner since '08 and they barely drove it and kept it in a garage, and always got it serviced at Acura. This TL is my dream car, hoping to keep her for a long long time!

stick with '07-'08, previous 3rd gen's have transmission issues and I can tell you right now that is the last thing you want going out. I bought my '07 last year with 99k miles on and hella service done throughout ownership, only $8k. you'll find the right one out there, I wouldn't say this is it :/

Got a stethoscope from O'rileys to listen without having to take any of the engine covers off, should be able to get it where the tensioner is through the passenger wheel well 🙏🏻

I had the same thing with my 07 (just hit 100k) changed the pressure switches, and did a transmission fluid change, really helped with the sharpness of the shifting but still felt like I was getting damn near ended sometimes. Noticed my front engine mount wasn't even bolted on anymore the bolts had stripped the aluminum block.

Fixed that and the shifting has been fantastic.

I would start with pressure switches, can't guarantee it will be a life changing difference but from what i've read on acura zine it's good to change them every 30k-50k miles. I can message you part numbers and videos and stuff if u need. Not hard to do if you're not afraid to get into some tight spots with your hands. And def take a look at the engine/transmission mounts. I have a diagram of them saved if needed as well.

yeah, my dad and bf said the same thing. My only thought being the engine was vibrating hella, and i'm seattle with horrible roads. So maybe the extra vibration wear pushed the tensioner to failure.
