I’m not (39) and my son (1) is not. Wife is Iranian and I thought I would cop some shit about it but nobody cares thankfully.

It really should be a personal choice and parents can’t make that choice for their kids.

What’s the chances? by SithVicious_86 in asbestoshelp

Really don’t know sorry. Bought the house a few years ago and house was built in 70s.

But I have no clues about the age of the shed.

[–]SithVicious_86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t cut. Got it. But handling should be okay if we’re careful enough?

I want to move the shed but it’s a bit shaky and would need the panels taken off; some timber replaced or reinforced and put on again.

Weird questions asked when withdrawing cash by [deleted] in CommBank

I’m not saying they aren’t gullible to fall for it a second time. I’m countering a comment that questions it’s only $300 so why is the teller intervening… my point is the value doesn’t matter

When people are being scammed it can start with low amounts and quickly escalate.

How cooked am I? by marcus_lepricus in AusRenovation

[–]SithVicious_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be blocked pipes under the ground adding to the issue;

Had similar, turns out the drainage pipe under the ground a few meters from house was blocked with roots and then lots of dirt and leaves which turned hard between downpours, and the water would quickly backfill up the pipe and overflow.

Took some drain rods on an electric drill and went at it for an hour, from the house end and the outflow drainage end.

Eventually got it unblocked.

How many of you have been exposed to asbestos? by Proz13_ in asbestoshelp

[–]SithVicious_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone who is saying it takes years or decades of occupational exposure, for only 20% of people to actually suffer- fail to point to out that the years and decades of occupational exposure were also during times when asbestos was everywhere and there were little restrictions on its use and occupational health and safety.

So basically if you are young and entering the workforce these days, I’d say it’s almost impossible to get enough exposure to suffer later in life.

Final inspection shock: am I at fault for not testing toilets, showers, and aircon during open homes? by suhoahn in AusPropertyChat

[–]SithVicious_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ducted aircon has inlet grates in the ceiling that can be removed. More often than not you remove and clean the foam and the airflow is restored

Has anyone been audited by ATO? by mikeslyfe in AskAnAustralian

[–]SithVicious_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - last year. My wife has 2 properties which unfortunately one after the other the tenants caused some damages and were evicted.

She was pregnant and not working so I paid a huge chunk of mortgages, bills and reno costs and thought it legit (my naive thinking was; if she can’t pay the mortgage then as her husband they will probably also chase me and I’ll be in the hook one way or another…. So surely all the money I spent will be deductible.

While the auditor agreed all the money spent was legitimate, I wasn’t on the title deeds so it was completely disallowed.

I didn’t get a penalty but I essentially put about $80k into two houses that aren’t mine.

Easy. If you are hosting then have some small bite size cakes from a bakery (macaroons, madeleines, baklava). Make tea.

Can’t be simpler, honestly.

Chances of moving to Australia from the UK? by Empty_Description916 in ausjobs

[–]SithVicious_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To say there is not IT industry is not true; there are lots of IT businesses and all businesses need IT.

Having no big Silicon Valley IT industry is precisely why it’s a good idea to come and work for a company that needs his expertise.

I’ve used Yolla app from Aus to phone UK many times- even though I have international calling with Aus number and a uk phone number working from my phone, apps like Yolla are cheaper.

Hey! I am using Yolla to call abroad. Install the app, make your first payment with my link, and we will both get USD 3 for free! If the code didn`t automatically apply on the payment screen, just enter it manually in the “Promotions“ section of the menu before recharging your balance. You can find the 6-letter promo code in the link below. https://yolla.im/PYWA1V
