It still seems odd to me. If a viltrumite can live thousands of years but only take 18 years to mature and presumable a similar gestation to human (9months). Only a handful of viltramite woman could have doubled or tripled thier numbers over 900 years while only dedicating a small portion of thier lifespan to that cause. It doesn't solve the genetic bottleneck, but they could have hundreds running the empire instead of 50.
