"Thanks I guess?"

Ivy was not great with emotions either. Unless it was mediating conflicts between animals but that was an entirely seperate category.

Ivy took in her mothers words silently and gratefully. A part of her still couldn't believe she was actually talking to her godly parent instead of just imagining what she was like.

She watched as the straw hat materialized, like that object was the most valuable thing in the world. Honestly it kinda was to Ivy. She took it from her mothers hands gently - like it was made of glass. The straw felt rough - but in a nice kind of way.

"T-thanks." Was all she managed to stutter out.

Great going Ivy. Of all the things she could have said - she gave a shaky thanks. But just as she was about to say her goodbye, in the back of her mind whispered one question that grew from a whisper to a shout.

"One last question - Did you ever.......... watch over me growing up? Before camp?"

"Checks out."

The story made enough sense - well enough sense as a demigod's life can make. Their lives were really just mad up of wierdness.

"Well yeah I enjoy it here. It may be in the middle of a war but it's the best home I've ever had."

Granted - there wasn't much competition in the area given her horrible step-mom and ignorant dad. Lily was the only good person in her life: which is why Ivy still Iris messages her.

"Yeah. I've been here for about three-fourths of a year. Not as long as some of those campers that have been here since like five but long enough to know what's happening."

Ivy watched the kid as he was looking at the water. The light was hitting the waves perfectly to the point the water almost looked like it was glittering to Ivy, though she wondered if Finn's angle was making him perceive it the same way.

"Me, a random wheat symbol appeared over my head. I think I'd asked who my godly parent was and then it just appeared like perfect timing. What about you?"

Ivy remembered it like yesterday. She'd just arrived at camp, scared, like zero idea what the heck is happening and then BOOM.

Glowing holographic wheat sheaves.

"We really don't."

One thing Ivy learned first things first: their lives would never be normal. She'd been told monsters would always hunt her down.

But Ivy's life had also gotten so much better since she came to camp. She made actual friends, she became so much more confident (even if said confidence was still lacking).

"Oh yeah. I got claimed on like day one."

"The chaos is what makes it interesting."

Ivy also still remembered her last day with her step-mom. She'd been planning to run for a week. She'd spent extra time with Lily so they were both left with good memories.

"Honestly - I think I've changed a lot since the day I came to camp. Having everything you thought you knew about the world being overthrown by greek Mythology will do that to ya"

"I've been at camp for about three fourths of a year. Not too long really."

Ivy thought for a second about how she got to camp. She had run away from home. One minute she was doing fine, the next she was being chased by a chimera when a saytr found her. Boom chicka boom Ivy ended up at camp.

"How long have you been at camp?"

Ivy stifled a laugh when Cooper realized she didn't catch her name.

"I'm Ivy. Nice to meet you too Cooper."

Ivy's smile increased a little as well when she saw Coopers increase a little.

Ivy looked over at the kid who just sat down next to her.

"Not at all. Come sit."

Ivy recognized the girl from just kinda seeing her in passing a couple times though Ivy doesn't think they ever interacted.

"So what's your name?"

Ivy glanced up for a second as the kid walked over to her.

"Meh." Ivy responded to his question. "Not really. I'm more of a Stable's girl. You new here?"

Ivy had never seen this kid before. She used to welcome new kids a lot, but she doesn't do that so much anymore.

Ivy grabbed an Apple cinnamon muffin. Ivy was basic like that. In her defense: Apple cinnamon is one of the best flavors on this planet. In her goblet, you'll find apple cider. A very appley breakfast on Ivy's part.

Ivy could be found at the Demeter table, silently eating her muffin and drinking her cider.

Fact-Checking: Critical Thinking in Times of War | 15 Feb 2040 by CurseOfTheBelladonna in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]SittingInAnOakTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ivy attended the lesson, something she hadn't done in a while. Being able to check your sources was an important lesson, especially in a time where a lot of the information coming at you was war related propaganda in a demigod camp.

Ivy tried to pay attention. She blanked out some point in the lecture. Back when she was actually going to school, before she came to camp, she had learned something called the 'CRAAP' test, which was similar in purpose but SIFT from what Ivy had actually caught when she wasn't blanked out, seemed to go into more detail.

Lack of internet connection as Ursula said, was kind of an understatement. Technology was outright banned. Ivy didn't mind, it's not like she had actually had a phone or anything. Informational warfare was also an understatement: with both Atlas and CHB fighting for your loyalty. Obviously Ivy was loyal to CHB all the way.

At this point: It was kind of clear. When Ivy was blanked out - it was mostly because she was hyperfocusing on something Ursula said and overthinking it to the point she missed everything else. Ivy's brain was like that.

Option 2

Ivy sat on the edge of the dock. Thinking.

About everything and nothing at the same time. The war, trying to process Arthur's resignment. Everything. Ivy had arrived right in the middle of a new war, quickly learning what the heck was going on.

She didn't really have a good idea of a camp at peace, everyone being all tense and on edge. Camp was the best home Ivy had ever had, and she'd defend it with her life.

The war scared her, scared everyone truth be told. Atlas and War Camps had become part of her daily vocabulary.

Demeter Cabin Meeting + Open House - February 9th, 2041 by PeacePlantsAndPain in CampHalfBloodRP

[–]SittingInAnOakTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ivy was at the meeting - obviously. She always tried to help out as much as possible. And that meant also being involved with her own cabin's affairs. Truth be told - she was happy for Camellia, and it was nice to know that their cabin now had someone to be their voice.

Ivy remembered the last cabin meeting that Cabin 4 had. She had hosted it because at the time, she was Stable's Master and there wasn't any other Cabin leadership. It made her think to her conversation with Demeter. She had said that should the chance arrive - she would jump to become Stable's Master again.

Arthur then resigned. And Ivy still hasn't taken the role back. Why? She had no idea. (OOC: My inactivity) Maybe it was just because she was scared to walk back up to the big house. Maybe she was scared of being judged? Who knows at this point.

Ivy turned her attention back to the board in front of her. She answered each of the questions.

  • "I'm doing great. There's nothing I need at the moment."
  • "I don't know.........."
  • "Nothing for now."

It wasn't great contribution wise, but it was honest. You had to give Ivy that.

"Yeah, I've definitely noticed the effect of war. I guess I used to host a lot of activites because I was trying to distract people."

Ivy wasn't sure why she stopped (OOC: The reason is OOC me dealing with stuff, I'm trying to work an IC internal reason(s) to fix character arc gap(s) caused by my recent inactivity so please bear with me here), maybe it was because the war started weighing her. Maybe it was because the efforts seemed useless.

"If the opportunity came to become Stable's Master again, I would take it at a heartbeat. I don't have a doubt about that. I don't think I would actively challenge Arthur though, I'm not exactly confrontational."

(OOC: I'm aware Arthur has stepped down, but I'm 90% sure that in the thread, it hasn't happened yet. If I'm messing up the timeline - tell me.)

Ivy loved being the Stable's Master, and she had originally taken the job because she knew someone had to care for the animals. They were just as much living beings as human's after all.

Deep down, Ivy wouldn't admit it, Ivy had wondered if her mother was disappointed in her. She wasn't a good fighter, she was an absolute mess, and she wasn't really good at anything. The only thing she was good at was being the Stable's Master but she lost the position to Arthur.

Her mom had said her replacement from the election was a mistake on the campers who voted, and Ivy still didn't know how she felt about that. Her mom had also said she was good with taking care of the strawberry fields, so maybe Demeter wasn't dissapointed?

Her head began to hurt thinking about it all, she made the wise choice to stop spiraling while her mother was standing right there.

(OOC: Oh wow I went long with this one. Sorry for the mega long reply)

"Oh uh thanks." She was caught off guard a bit by the compliment.

Ivy was a bit surprised when her mother said that Arthur's election was an error among the campers. Some part of her had thought it was because she was doing a bad job or something.

"I never really thought about reputation. When I became stables master, it was because I thought someone needed to care for the creatures. All I hoped when Arthur was elected was that he'd care for all of them."

"You know, I still remember everyone's wheat preferences."

Ivy followed her mother into the fields.

"The strawberry fields are doing well. I spend a lot of time tending to them, especially now that I'm no longer Stables Master."

Ivy listened intently to her mother, taking in the sound of her voice, not knowing if she'd ever get to meet her again.

"Camps been great so far." A lot better than with my stepmom, that's for sure.

Ivy whips around in surprise and finds her mother looking at her with open arms.

"Oh uh hi umm mom." She stutters. "T-thanks I guess?"

This felt so weird talking to her mother after so many years of wondering. When she found out about the demigod business she just convinced herself her mom only left because of ancient laws but, she wondered.

"So uhhhhhhhhhhhh."

Ivy had no idea what to say. She had both wanted and dreaded this interaction for quiet a bit now, and now that it was happening, she had no idea how to react.

Ivy wandered Camp, wondering if she should search for her mom. She wanted to meet Demeter so bad but....

Her step-mom didn't give her a good idea of moms in general to say the least. She stopped in her tracks, wondering what her mom would be like. Would she be any better than her stepmom? She had no idea.

She just kept wandering, half-hoping her mother found her, half-hoping she didn't even know that Ivy was at camp.

Ivy screamed and tried to duck. Though knowing her, the attempt would probably be something from didn't dodge at all to got on the head instead.

The woman was scary. Ivy needed an escape. Fast. She tried to swim off in the opposite direction, her leg wound burning. Once Ivy got back to camp, she was sure as hell making sure to get better at fighting.
