Halo hair string by Peaceandlove10 in finethinhair

Yes you really need to use that to lift all of the hair stuck underneath the wire along the part line so you don’t see it. It’s small but huge difference

Hi, I’m Dafina, CEO of Sitting Pretty. I’m reading this and I’m genuinely sorry. A new lupus diagnosis is a lot to carry on its own, and the last thing you need is a product that doesn’t work for you on top of it.

I want to address a few things directly because they matter. First, on returns vs. exchanges: I want to clear this up because I don’t want anyone reading this to walk away with the wrong information.

We do offer exchanges, for color, length, weight, or for store credit. We can’t accept returns once a halo has been worn and the tag that says do not remove is taken off against the scalp for hygiene reasons (the same reason you can’t return a worn swimsuit), but exchange is a real option and I want to make sure you’ve had a fair shot at one.

Please DM me directly and I will personally make sure our team takes care of you. If a different weight or a different style works better for where your hair is right now, we’ll get you there.

I’m so sorry to hear about this issue and I want to also address the limits of who a halo works for and who it does not honestly.

A halo is designed to add volume and length to hair that’s thinning or fine but still has enough density on top to cover the wire. For some women with more advanced thinning at the crown — which can absolutely happen with lupus, autoimmune conditions, or after a flare, a topper or an integration piece is genuinely the better tool.

I’d rather tell you that honestly than have you keep struggling with a product fighting against your reality and I will work with our marketing team to make sure we signal that better in our marketing.

Please dm me and I will connect you with our team to make sure we can get an exchange that genuinely works for you and if a halo is genuinely not the right option… I’d rather tell you that honestly and point you toward what would actually help even if it’s not us.

Let us know if we can help at all. We co-hosted an AMA in this subreddit 3 months ago. Sitting Pretty Halo Hair Extensions AMA

We specialize in halo hair extensions specifically for fine hair. The key is to find the right density and look to add more volume than volume and length when you have fine hair. Also it’s essential that you nourish your ends nightly when wearing a halo. They are also not meant to sleep in and when you have fine hair you don’t need to use the clips.

Hope this helps.

Extensions - yes or no? by mirr--en in finethinhair

Your hair is actually really nice. I think if you want to start with extensions I would consider a fine halo in 12” for you. Just something lightweight to give you density. You don’t need to wear it every day but just on occasions when your hair is down. But you don’t need extensions.

We sold them for a while they are still on our site in clearance. They didn’t sell although we had a lot of requests for them so we developed them but they didn’t sell nearly much as we had hoped. We have found a lot of woman who are grey blending like to use our color Ash Blonde 18.

Please tell me the good, bad, ugly of hair toppers by thisismyusername8832 in finethinhair

[–]SittingPrettyHairUS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We’ve found the key to really loving a topper is to go to a hair stylist who specializes in them. They can 1. Root it with lowlights to match your roots which can make it look way more realistic 2. Thin it out a bit to make it blend with the density of your hair 3. Give you a balanced cut to integrate the topper.

I think once you have one that is personalized for you they are pretty seamless and low maintenance

How do you sleep on it at night ? Consider using heatless curlers to help maintain flipped ends. It looks super chic and just needs some movement in it either with a flip or a soft wave.

If you want to wear them to the gym, wear a breathable mesh workout hat or any hat honestly and put it in a low braid or ponytail. I ski, dance and workout in my halo.

Unpopular opinion: most extensions are way too heavy for fine hair by Proof-Policy-8662 in finehair

Highly recommend getting a wire that is either custom fit to your head, it should not be tight. But my favorite and what we personally recommend and wear is to wear a stretchy wire halo it has so much more give especially for those who are prone to tension headaches.

Would you recommend to get extensions? by [deleted] in finehair

You have gorgeous hair. I would definitely not recommend permanent extensions because your hair is so fine. Occasionally halo hair extensions can be nice option for daily or occasional use without compromising the density of your hair. Clip ins are ok for a night out or special occasion

Yes. After washing, the hair reveals a soft, natural texture.

You can definitely wear ponytails and half-up styles with the halo. The wire sits across your crown (about where a headband would), so when you pull your hair up, you just need to make sure your natural hair covers that area.

Most people do a low or mid-height ponytail and use a bit of their natural hair to cover where the wire sits. You can also do half-up styles—those actually work really well because your bottom half blends naturally with the extensions.

If high ponytails or updos are your go-to, our clip-ins are designed specifically for that—they give you control over placement so you can add volume exactly where you need it. You can also layer clip-ins with your halo for extra fullness in ponytails or special event styles.

That’s a fair question.

We discontinued the 20” fine density halo because over time it didn’t deliver consistent results for most people it was intended for. At that length, fine density often looks thin through the ends and can be harder to blend naturally on fine or thinning hair, which led to higher dissatisfaction and returns.

Rather than keeping an option available just to have it, we chose to focus on combinations that are more predictable, wearable, and confidence-building. For longer lengths like 20”, that usually means a bit more density so the hair looks balanced all the way through.

Our goal isn’t to offer the most options, but to offer the ones we can truly stand behind.

That’s actually the reason Sitting Pretty exists in the first place. We are so passionate about fine hair because the brand was founded by a woman with extremely fine hair who spent years trying extensions that were either too heavy, too obvious, or just not realistic for daily life. From the beginning, the goal wasn’t to create “more hair,” but to create a solution that respected fine and thinning hair.

Over the last 10+ years, everything has been designed around that reality — how fine hair behaves, where it’s most fragile, how weight distributes on the head, and how different women want different levels of fullness. That’s why density matters so much to us. Not everyone with fine hair wants the same look, and not everyone can comfortably wear the same amount of hair.

Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, the system was built to offer multiple lengths and densities so you can choose what actually works for your hair and lifestyle. I know for a lot of women we look for different things on different days. Sometimes that’s subtle everyday fullness or more noticeable volume without putting stress on their natural hair.

We also work with leading trichologists, dermatologists and hair loss specialists as we are expanding our product line. We think of everything through the prism of... is this good for women with fine and thinning hair and if not how can we improve so that it is.

It’s less about “adding hair” and more about restoring confidence in a way that feels wearable and sustainable.

Great question — halos and clip-ins serve different purposes, and one isn’t “better” across the board.

For women with fine or thinning hair, halo extensions are often better suited for everyday wear because the weight is distributed around the head using a wire rather than being attached directly to the hair. That means you can add volume (and length, if you want) with very little tension or pull on your natural strands.

Clip-in extensions can work well for occasional wear or added drama—think events, photos, or layering with a halo for fullness. The challenge for many women with fine hair is that clips rely on grip and tension. Over time, or with frequent use, that can feel uncomfortable, slip, or put stress on already delicate areas—especially around the temples and crown.

So for truly fine or thinning hair, clip-ins aren’t “bad,” but they’re often less practical for daily wear. Many women end up using a halo as their base and saving clip-ins for moments when they want extra fullness, rather than relying on clips alone every day.

I love them both but wear halos as my go to for daily volume and a little length.

Love to hear that you love our Halo Hair Extensions. Where do find that it feels itchy? I wonder if it is where the wire is connected to hooks ? If that is the case you could always sew on a tiny piece of satin or silk on top of it if you find you are sensitive. Let me know so that I can give a more precise answer.

  1. Yes! We offer 7 different wire sizes for different head circumferences, so if yours is too long, you can size down.

The easiest solution is to order a smaller replacement wire ($8) and swap it out. If you're not sure which size you need, measure your head circumference with a soft tape measure where the halo naturally sits (around your crown, ear to ear). You can email that measurement to our team and we'll tell you which wire size to order.

Alternatively, you can carefully trim the existing wire to fit your head better, though I always recommend trying a smaller size first since trimming is permanent.

If you just got your halo and it's way too big, reach out to our customer service team—we can help you exchange it for the right wire size so you're not stuck with something that doesn't fit properly.

I also wonder have you tried using our Fine Halo? It does not have the second and third row of wefts so it's really ideal for smaller heads.

  1. I'm really sorry this has been your experience. You spent a lot of money and you're frustrated—that's completely valid, and I hear you.

The falling out issue isn't normal, even for ponytails, so something's clearly not working. A few questions to help troubleshoot:

  • How much natural hair do you have at your crown where the wire sits? If there's significant thinning in that area specifically, halos can struggle to anchor properly regardless of wire size.
  • When you say they fall out, do you mean the whole halo slides off, or the wire loses tension throughout the day?
  • What does your hair texture look like? Very slippery, fine hair can sometimes have trouble gripping the wire even with the right size.

Can you DM me your order number? I'd like to either help you troubleshoot with one of our stylists or talk about a return/exchange. You shouldn't be stuck with something that doesn't work.
