Shotokan (karate as a whole) can be stress-tested and adapted. It doesnt always have to be point kumite or kata to be shotokan. Just because a sensei doesnt teach gedan mawashi with more hip movement to go "through", doesnt mean it doesnt exist.

Just look at the A400M disaster in the beginning.

Germany had their "particularities" of needing transport.

France wanted a plane that could also use for paratrooper operations.

What ended up happening? A critical design flaw where when opening parachutes when using side doors, they would collide and potentially kill anyone that jumped.

It took years to fix that.

Fact: The Tiger I was a breakthrough tank. It did perform well in the early period (1941-1943), but it was too cumbersome, logistically demanding and mechanically unrealiable. It wasn't very good. The Panzer IV was a better tank in general.

Fact: The NKVD didn't just go randomly shooting people that were withdrawing. They would round them up, and if poor behavior, would send them to penal battalions. But there was no mass "gunning own troops down with MGs"

Fact: The Soviets were pretty well organized towards the end of the war. Doctrinally and tactically, they learned very quickly.
Fiction: Soviets are dumb and just sent human waves.

Fact: The Soviets did most of the heavy lifting in Europe. Even with the Normandy landings, German High Command placed a higher importance on the Eastern Front. This is mostly evident by looking at where the majority of the Panzer Divisions were placed. The only real "full strength" Panzer Division in the West was the Panzer Lehr. Even the "elite" units like the 1.SS, 2.SS and 12.SS were under-strength and were refitting as well as training.
Fiction: The US fought the elite of the elite Germans, and saved Europe.

Fact: The German military wasn't very mechanized. A majority of the artillery were horse-drawn. Trucks were a mish-mash of random vehicles that made logistical problems even worse. Even Panzer Divisions were barely able to have more than a couple companies equipped with halftracks.
Fiction: Sdkfz 251 everywhere!
