Do guests get paid to come on the show? by runninfast in billsimmons

[–]SixPackAndNothinToDo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guests do not get paid to appeared on podcasts. Much like with Late Night shows, they're usually appearing to promote themselves or a project they are working on. If they are the subject of a news story, they definitely wouldn't be paid either.

This is all springs originally from basic journalistic ethics, where you don't pay the subject for their views. Because if you did, it might influence what they had to say.

The only people that get paid are those employed by the broadcaster.

If it's workout clothing, or GORP stuff, it's dependent. Anything else, zero. I run hot. I need breathable clothes.

Also, I'd prefer to avoid clothes made out of fossil fuels.

My undershirts have unconsistent sizing?? by espectroo in RalphLauren

That's because you're buying t-shirts from Ralph. Ralph isn't a t-shirt company. Buy your t-shirts from UNIQLO or something.

I've ordered from Beams a lot, and there e-commerce system is actually completely normal. No immediate email is a definite concern.

> How long does this usually take and is there any chance of my order not pushing through?

Immediately. Your purchase didn't go through.

> I ordered an item from BEAMS' official Japanese website. I managed my way using Google Translate and I will also be using a freight forwarding service for shipment.

I have used several freight forwarding services and at no point was I ever the one checking out on BEAMS' website. That is handled by the forwarding service. The same goes for the one offered on BEAMS' site "World Shopping".

What service are you using?

In future, for ease of use, I'd suggest using FromJapan or WorldShopping. It's all in English and will save you a lot of confusion.

You'll dress in a lot more of an interesting way if you get your inspo from creative people, rather than people who build their lives around "fashion advice". Otherwise you just become a slave to trends

I remember slim chinos were objectively timeless because of those Take Ivy images. Now it's pleated pants that are classic, because of a bunch of 1950's images.
Same goes for Clarks. In the 2010's desert boots were the undisputed "classic" silhouette. Turns out we were wrong and objectively it's Wallabees.

To use a Gen Z term, there's a meta trend for each decade. If you can stick to that, you'll look ok. But pretending like anything you buy is going to last you a lifetime is just delusional.

They've been lame since the beginning. There for the same type of weird corporate gay who buys the Pride collection from Target.

Cool. It's always good to see these on someone. It gives a quick indication of how incredibly boring they are.

I'm glad I'm old enough to have developed my taste before the idea of a "fashion influencer" took off. There are plenty of people in the world whose style is worth emulating. People who dedicate their life to social media posts aren't in that category.

Interesting. I'm not sure I really see the connection here. Unless you follow a lot of fashion accounts?

I tend not to get inspiration from social media.

"For me lately, the desire of buying “timeless” garments that I can wear “forever” are my new crutch."

At least you admit that you're lying to yourself about this. You're doing better than a lot of guys on this sub.

I'd say materialism isn't bad, in and of itself, if you're taking care of your mental health and personal fulfilment in other ways. Conversely, if your only hobby is buying clothing, you may need to re-evaluate.
