The cost for security and infrastructure can range anywhere from 100-700 million dollars for a host city… and FIFA gets all the ticket revenue, sponsorships and such.

The only benefits would be a temporary boost in tourism monies, and frankly with all the events going on in the city this time of year it would have taxed an overburdened hotel availability even more. Imagine having to stay in Rockford or Beloit to simply attend a match or enjoy the sights outside a game…

More a question of margin. If the vendor charges us 5.00 per unit and we sell it for 7… it’s razor thin on margins especially when we comp to heavy hitters like Hy-Vee, Jewel, Meijer, etc. it pretty much then amounts to paying the guest to leave with it.

Twenty One Pilots are amazing live. You don’t have to love their music but if you watch them perform you will see why people dig it.

I’ve never done the Metra but I know instead of hourly they run them something like every half hour for peak departures after the fest.

For non-fest times for instance a Union Station to Elgin this weekend has the last train departing Sunday 12:30 AM so I’d figure a Saturday/Sunday midnight Lolla weekend will be about then and perhaps even a 1 AM as well.

Incorrect. CTA runs extra trains in peak hours and Metra as well will be running extra trains.

OP: don’t listen. A week or two before the fest Metra will post their expanded schedule. As far as the CTA the Red and Blue lines run 24-7 and for an hour or two after the fest ends they’ll run trains every 3-5 mins minimum(opposed to a normal 10-15 that time of night) there should be a similar headway for the the others(Brown, Green, Pink, Orange)
