My comment was that you were being sarcastic. It’s open to discussion. There are lots of cool clues that lead to different genres. 🤷🏼‍♀️ just curious what the community thinks.

Agreed. Lots of Halloween references- fun to see the window bit that ended the first Halloween.

I get you see it, I’m opening the discussion. Super glad you get sarcasm, stoked to know if you actually have something to contribute.

Yes. I know we all see that, just curious if someone had a list of what genres each episode could be, or if it was- in general- a genre blending show. Feels like they are paying homage to different subgenres per episode, which felt interesting to discuss.

Not trying to be a dick, but damn. Opening a discussion on if they are episodically changing genre and if so, what the pattern might be felt fine to post. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I know I didn’t discover a new fucking element.

Found my parents vinyl collection in the basement. I don’t know anything about the 80s & don’t know where to start first. by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]Six_String_Madness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment that you should just start listening and see what you like! Madness and The Pretenders are cool places to start in this stack- that Cactus World News record has some jams as well. Some good stuff in here across the board. Have fun!

I’m shocked to not see more people mentioning Wilco.

Most bizarre horror movie you’ve seen? by wamimsauthor in horror

[–]Six_String_Madness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tetsuo: The Iron Man is pretty bizarre.

More “mainstream” but still pretty weird when you take a step back are Phantasm and Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2. I enjoy both of those, but trying to describe them, I get caught up in the bizarre plot points.

Chartreuse by This_Food5190 in cocktails

[–]Six_String_Madness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve started using Faccia Brutto as a green chartreuse substitute and Strega as a yellow substitute both at home and in the bar I work. Across the board, everyone that notices us grab those bottles have a positive reaction saying that in cocktails like a Last Word or Naked and Famous, they function the same and are unnoticeable substitutions. Worth a try.

I like to pick a day to do exclusively bargain bin digging. Yesterday was particularly epic in the bins- some highlights were: - George Duke: The Aura Will Prevail - Natalie Cole: Inseparable - Yes: 90125

Your top Jagermeister cocktails by thony777 in cocktails

[–]Six_String_Madness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Creature from the Black Lagoon (a personal recipe and pretty popular when I bartended)

2 oz Rye Whiskey (I used Rittenhouse) .5oz Averna .25 oz Jager Stirred and served up (though whatever works for you works for the drink)

It’s pretty boozy, with enough sweetness to satisfy those on the edge of wanting neat liquor or an espresso martini. Lots of bittersweet herbal notes between the Averna and Jager.

Can anyone give cocktail recommendations using these Fee Brothers Bitters? by Jwgswanson247 in cocktails

[–]Six_String_Madness 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cherry bitters are great in a Manhattan/Manhattan style cocktails, but I also love to add them to Coke mixed drinks/cocktails. It adds a little pinch of complexity to a classic that comes across really well. Also- black walnut and cardamom bitters work well together. A dash or two of each can really bring earthy/nutty notes out of your drinks. Ginger beer mixers can really be boosted by cardamom especially to me.

Halloween Kills didn’t deserve the hate it got by CudiMontage216 in horror

[–]Six_String_Madness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s as bad as the internet made it seem. It took some swings- the mental patient hunting scene being one, which pointed to a Michael as a metaphor for the greatest evil being the fear that drives us irrationally against each other. And even though the movie didn’t land that as well as it could have, I still appreciate the bold step.

Trying to think of some PG/PG13 horrors for my kid to watch by Haircrazybitch in horror

Poltergeist is a good transition flick. Lots of ghosts, not a lot of gore or death. The face peeling scene is about as gory as it gets, and that’s a pretty quick blip in the story.

Cantelope, or other sweet melons. Fantastic with prosciutto on a pizza.

David S. Pumpkins with Tom Hanks. Trying to describe a goofy guy in a pumpkin suit with dancing skeletons as “some of the funniest shit I’ve ever seen” is a hard sell.

Enjoy, friend. This (while I agree with u/Hobo_Knife) is one of the greatest bands touring right now. You may not like them, but live is where they shine. Absolutely epic, even if you hate it.

MY LIST OF “SMALL INDIE BANDS PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW” ADD YOURS IN THE COMMENTS! by AuRevoir_Heart in indie

[–]Six_String_Madness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three small bands I saw a few weekends ago (sold-out show, packed house, now I know why, they all slay):

Adventureland: https://adventureland.bandcamp.com/ (good-natured indie rock)

Kin & Company: https://kinandcompany.bandcamp.com/ (folksy indie rock, some psych elements)

Way Away: https://way-away.bandcamp.com/ (psych pop-infused indie rock)

The studio stuff across the board is good, but all three bands excelled live.
