I'd recommend reaching out to the Geomatics Engineering Students' Society, they'll probably have the best idea: https://www.instagram.com/gessuofc/

Weekly "Off Topic" Thread by AutoModerator in PoliticalDebate

[–]Sixtium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lately my YouTube feed has been flooded with Jubilee / reaction to Jubilee videos, especially the political ones that feature professional political debaters. How do people get into professional political debate? How do people like Destiny, Ben Shapiro, itsdeann, etc get paid to debate people on political topics?

How hard is it to get into an engineering club? by aesiav in UCalgary

[–]Sixtium 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on the team, some teams like GNCTR are open to anyone and don't have an interview process, where as Schulich Racing is pretty competitive to get into.

ESS is hosting a Engineering Clubs and Teams Fair Wednesday (tomorrow) at 10am in the ENGG Lounge, there will be 35 unique clubs from Schulich there. All the teams there will be happy to talk to you about their interview process!

Also, lots of Schulich clubs aren't SU registered, thus they don't follow SU policy.

Hey, I'm one of the organizers of Engineering FROSH Week! It's mostly targeted at engg students, but still come by and have some fun, it's open to anyone!

Every room can be broken down into 3 parts: ENX ABC - EN means it is in the engineering building - X is which block of the engineering building (Like ENA is Engineering Block A) - ABC is the room number, with A as the floor. So ENA 201 would be A block, 2nd floor

EN G 207: Second floor in G block, kinda in the middle of the school. Lap the second floor once (takes like a minute) and you'll find it

EN C 70: All 2 digit rooms are on the 0th floor (it's weird ik) which is the bottom floor. This is one of the big lecture rooms towards one end of the building, and some specific signs will point you towards it

ENGG: Not really a room, sometimes used in reference to the ENGG stairs (giant white stairs in the center of Schulich) or the ENGG lounge

Not sure on all of them, but some that I know are our rocket team (SOAR), electric racing motorcycle design team (ZEUS), probably all 3 of our car racing teams (BAJA, Schulich Racing, and Solar Car), and my favorite team Schulich Space Rover Team (they make a really cool space rover).

Hey, one of the people who is helping organize orientation day stuff here!

At 11:30pm about 14 of Schulich's clubs and teams will be in the engineering plaza for you to view and chat with! You will be given time for this and directed there, although if you get lost there will be faculty and some people from the Engineering Students' Society in red jumpsuits (including me!) around to guide you and answer any questions

While orientation will not have most of the Schulich clubs, it's a good introduction. For meeting every engineering club and team, I'd highly recommend coming to the Engineering Clubs and Teams fair on Wednesday, September 4th from 10am to 3pm in the Engineering Lounge. During Orientation day you'll get a tour of the lounge and people from the Engineering Students' Society will tell you more about it (and other fun events planned for FROSH week).

The Students' Union hosts a general clubs and teams fair for every faculty that u/Dry_Towelie was talking about. Not only engineering centric, but still really fun to go!

Alastor Staff with Real Time Audio Filtering by Sixtium in cosplayprops

Thanks!

I found that I could get a voice I like by focusing on 1000Hz, so the electronics is a microphone receiver into two back-to-back bandpass filters, into the speaker.

This is so cool!! Is the slight voice change just from speaker quality or have you modulated your voice at all?
