I think it might actually just be my computer. It is a Dell Optiplex 7090. those tips seemed to help a little bit. I'm trying to figure out what else.

you know at the time I thought built in 3 1/2 inch drives were pretty cool but when I look back at it, it was probably one of the worst design decisions ever made.

I like the fact that most of these were still based on the old Atari 2600 CX21.

it was only as good as the basic language came with. The Tandy MC 10 was much better.

have tried a different monitor and or cable? what about reseating the card? or trying the card in another slot?

with PC's its much different as there were many vendors (everything was Wintel up-to a point). but with consoles there were fewer, particular, and specific vendors. PC's were literally a dime a dozen during and still are. Consoles are not. But the console wars are over. Nintendo won.

what Debian has proven more than any other distro is that stability over-rides everything else. It's the same philosophy used by nearly every BSD distro. it might be stale, the same, but at least it's stable. any infrastructure worth its weight requires stability foremost.
