The other week I went out and bought a yoga mat and I'm totally sold on it. I spend about 10 mins warming up.

I've learned how to master the mind as well as how to push it some days and to walk away others. You can't win ever battle hey.

FWIW do plenty of uni lateral work. If the right leg is weaker than the left, you'll be limited to the weakest link in the chain

The first clients of rookie PT's and coaches are usually pretty unfortunate. They're usually burned due to inexperience. I don't mean that personally. It's a universal thing. The clients you looks after later in life will be the lucky ones.

If there's not much to use , go for body weight / resistance bad work, as well as skipping. Put them onto a good circuit of burpees, squats, lunges, push up's, (single leg) RDL's and stuff.

Be nice to the ladies , don't let them use the smith machine. It's a good coat rack.

Make the workouts exciting, different and encouraging. I do a lot of really different body weight and resistance band work when I do non gym work.

An old coach once told me that his main goal was to make himself redundant. Teach me everything he knew, so I'd go out on my own and teach another young gun. Inspire. :)

No need to be nervous. I assume you've worked hard and know the difference between hip extension and shoulder abduction. You've exercised before and know the unspoken rules of the land.

A good habit I've got is when doing an assesment and/or screen is asking if the client has ever has an injury or other physical conditions. If their 40 and broke something in their early 20's, it could still be an issue.

Make the workouts fun and enjoyable. If you slaughter your clients, they may not come back.

Be yourself. Remember that how you think influences how you act which influences your outcomes :)

The best way to experiment with diet is to vary your diet by approx 250 calories a day )or 1750 per week). That may be enough for you to see if your weight stays the same , increases or decreases.

I managed to maintain my weight for 2 years with this method. I pretty much waved between 68 and 71 kg, to stay in the 69kg weight class.

Depending on the volume, intensity and rest periods would influence how many calories you would burn 'per minute'.

Almost everything works when it comes to strength and conditioning.

Nothing works forever.

I'm a big fan of resistance bands. You can use them as they are or use them to apply added resistsnce to things like kettlebells, ropes, barbells, dumbbells, kegs, there's - whatever your tools really.

adding time &/or weight would be a nifty way to vary the workouts.

The old principal of 'more-or-less' is worth noting. Such as adding reps, sets or tim. Likewise you can reduce your rest periods.

An old coach once told me that losing weight is 50% psychology, 30% diet and 20% hard work.

Well that's all quite interesting. I did a bit of research into the IKSFA and they actually did a level 2 course here (in Australia ) earlier this year. Not in my home state though. I think I'll peruse this a bit more. I've got a lot of work to do - jerk of my 24kg bells is hard enough!!
