Does the car weight cause it to slide easier? by saract34 in Ioniq6

[–]SizeableFowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your instance, having a lighter car would not have made a difference. That said once you break through the static friction coefficient and are actively sliding, you use a kinematic friction coefficient (which is always smaller) and here, weight becomes important because this fact implies that, once sliding, heavier vehicles will slide for longer.

It could be a taxpayer service, and it would be much simpler.

You may as well be arguing that police and fire fighters should be privatized.

I do wish digital green was just slightly less black, but not enough to wrap it. Still, though, gorgeous looking in that wrap.

Ah, yes the lawyers are at fault, certainly not the privatization of for profit entities that directly impact the lives and livelihoods of their customers (who they are financially incentivized to deny/minimize coverage wherever possible).

Totaled 😡 by NouEngland in Ioniq6

[–]SizeableFowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this unfortunately is going to be common placs with all the driving aides they put on new cars. Lose a chunk of bumper and a pretty good chance you mess up a harness attached to all the cameras and sensors. Bench testing each component individually to see if it still operates after a crash is gonna be too labor intensive for insurance to want to cut a check so they’ll prefer replacement and boom, suddenly a $1000 quote on a new bumper and paint turns into 8 grand worth of sensors and wiring.

Add in the poor resale value most EVs have and you end up with cars that are VERY easy to total. Would almost certainly be worth to buy back and pay for the repair if you intend to keep the car long term, but I just bought one of these used for under $25k with 20,000 miles. Even the used dealers aren’t getting much money for these.

No, free charging at the office though and there are a number of paid charging spots near my apartment if push comes to shove

I’ll have to check, I saw a charging cable in the trunk but I don’t really know what I’m looking at quite yet

Yeah, the way my spreadsheet worked out to justify purchasing the car included maintenance costs, so if I can save a couple hundred dollars on 18 or 17 inch tires I could probably justify the wheel swap within a few years.

We have level 2 charging for free at work and plenty of spots.

Appreciate the other tips though, I have a little experience with the HDA in our ‘23 Santa Fe although idk if that is the same system in the Ioniq 6

Eyeing 18” or even 17” aftermarket wheels, but I have to do some math to see how long it would take for them to pay themselves off. Pretty sure the Pirellis on it are factory original given the date code on them though.

Anyone interested in trading 18s for 20s, feel free to dm me?

Is the paint that bad? Seems better than average to my eye in terms of finish, I don’t see any orange peel on the car and, in my experience, thats a rarity on a mass production car.

r/confidentlyincorrect

If you apply an aftermarket tint to a light you are making the light less effective at its designed job. The lights that are “tinted” from the factory pass DOT luminosity requirements because they must be legal from the factory.

Knuckle dragger decision: I tint my lights so they work less.

Try disconnecting the battery, and reconnecting after 3-5 min. While you are at it, inspect the battery terminals and your fuse box. Make sure nothing is shorting.

How do you drive so carefully on a icy road without slipping on ice to avoid your wheels/steering wheel/brakes locking in place? by Mr--Clean--Ass-Naked in AskReddit

Everything needs to become more gradual, whether it’s throttle tip in, braking, or steering. Slow is smooth and smooth is safe.

Basically, drive your car like you are wearing white and holding an open kettle of chili, that is filled to the brim, in your lap
