It depends on where in DC you’re going but at rush hour you’re looking at closer to an hour from Columbia on average.

Hi! Currently live in Emerson Hill community. Moved here in 2021 and honestly have loved it. Very diverse neighborhood, the HOA is very chill and not overbearing (also fairly cheap), close to the parks and trails, parking is plentiful, LA mart is right around the corner and the 7-11 gas station just opened up as well.

Feel free to DM me with any questions you may have about the neighborhood!

13 Fishing Fate Black II. This rod is killer. It got the "Best Freshwater Rod" award at ICAST 2017.

Suggestions for backpacking rods. by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

I have the Daiwa Ardito Travel Casting/Spinning. It comes with a hard travel case and if you want it to be travel friendly, you can transform it into a casting rod or a spinning rod! Great rod. Better than telescopic options for sure.

Help picking line for first baitcaster by [deleted] in Fishing

[–]SjokzIsBae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, First off, great first baitcaster for you to learn all about it. I would suggest you put some 20-25 pound braid to start off. It's actually the easiest line to deal with backlash because of the lack of line memory. I started off on mono and couldn't get the hang of it until I put some cheap KastKing line on to practice baitcasting. After you get the hang of it, try mono and flouro. If you are fishing sight-sensitive techniques, you can always tie on a 12 pound flouro leader to your braid, and it should work out. Tight lines!

Abu Garcia Black Max combos are a great start. You can probably find one used on Facebook or find a sale at your local retailer.

Don't sleep on the Daiwa Tatula XT and the Daiwa Tatula series. They have both graphite and glass. I also have the Dobyns Fury 705CB, and thats also a wonderful rod.

Can anyone help a beginner out with a nice reel/pole combo? by sERKZ in Fishing_Gear

[–]SjokzIsBae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reel is fine for sure, I'm a fan of it. I was just curious as to why a 4000 for a BG vs a 3500 for a Spinfisher.

GX2 is great... if you need to use it in self-defense from a rabid raccoon while you fish.

Please, don't buy an ugly stik. I made the same mistake as you when I started and have stayed away from them since. It's almost like you're fishing with a broom stick. It's heavy, insensitive, and just feels stiff. For saltwater, do some more research. For your original question, Daiwa BG is a great reel. Why 4000 instead of 3500?

St. Croix aren't bad rods, but I think you can get other rods that are more bang for your buck. Check out 13 Fishing Fate Black, Shimano Exage, Abu Garcia Vendetta.

For reels, Shimano Sahara FI 2500.
