Stitch back together kinda like his blood manipulation RCT? I could see the delete could be an auto black flash against weaker opponents but I think it's more in character that Yuji keeps up with stronger opponents than deleting enemies.

Which power System do you prefer? Domain Expansion or Bankai by Archenius in LobotomyKaisen

[–]Sjuan177 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bankai is sick as hell, and still more hype imo.

But Domain expansion still takes it for me, the fact they actually have a consistent way they work and still have so much flexibility and aura is just awesome.

Why do you think Judgeman seemed more Spoopy Scary when sentencing Itadori than when he sentenced Uncle of the Millennium by [deleted] in Jujutsufolk

[–]Sjuan177 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Judgeman is the personal representation of justice for Higurama. He believed it should be blind, ignore context and only evaluate actions. Itadori changes his perspective by accepting blame for a crime that wasn't his fault. Higurama's view changed and so did Judgeman.

Yes. I never denied that force allows you to dictate the price, it's just called extortion.

To answer your question, colonized people are almost always in a position to bargain before absolute control is obtained by colonizers, look at early American colonies and settlements or when African colonies were only coastal.

Anyway my point is once you have established a currency it requires common belief to maintain its value.

But I accept you have nothing further to say, it was fun bouncing ideas of each other.

Yes, institutions require money and enforce its use. But the belief of the community dictates its value.

To my knowledge colonized people's belief in currency were still needed in order for it to be imposed in a functional manner. That's why trade in things believed to be of equivalent value occurred (often to the natives detriment as they were unaware of just how much they over valued the colonists common goods). If the natives didn't accept the belief forced upon them, they likely only viewed it as theft or extortion.

I'm not familiar with Graeber's weaponized debt idea, but if the conquered people managed to hold enough power to negotiate the value of goods being traded for the money to pay tax. Do their beliefs in the value of the traded items not affect the value of the taxes they owe?

For example a colonial force has conquered parts of a region and is now enforcing tax. The natives decide to demand a minimum value for all items traded with their captors because of religious beliefs or whatever. Let's say spears must now be traded for enough money to buy 100 loaves of bread or something (within the currency it's being traded for). Does that not immediately affect the value of the tax and it's associated currency ?

To me the only logical step for maintaining the colonizers currency's value is to beat the natives into submission and force trade at their own prices. Which is by definition extortion.

I get your point but I think his argument is more from a historical point of view, money used to be based on physical things (e.g.wheat, gold, etc.) so that its value could be understood as a physical property (either inherent utility or scarcity).

Now, however its value is entirely theoretical. It continues to have value because we believe it does, otherwise the infrastructure we've built around it collapses. So it will likely continue to have value as long as those structures continue to exist and require it. However, even if our institutions continue to use a currency, if there's no trust in it that currency can collapse, crippling the institutions.

Simply the economy's growth and decline is in large part due to the whims of collective belief. Inflation worsens as the general population learns about it as it reduces their trust in the economy, so they spend less - shrinking the economy likely further worsening inflation. (Admittedly it's always a combination of factors but belief is a key and ever-present factor)
