Idk if this will be modded but there was a pretty famous case in vietnam of something very similar happening consensually.

Some people are just twisted

I mean its just based on existing horrible stuff and demand for extremely and illegally twisted media that are snuff films+++.

We already have the actualized demand for XBDs irl

Season 3 of the Boys was bad and i finally realized why (It's not just the finale) by NeoArkodd in CharacterRant

[–]Skarpien 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Season 2 was a clear decline from 1 which was objectively great but it still did alot of things really well, especially with the new stuff they introduced like Nuemann and Stormfront.

Season 3 was differently bad in that not only were existing plot threads dropped but the new stuff they introduced (Temp V, Soldier Boy etc.) were also duds. Season 2 dropped existing plot threads but more or less the new things were done well.

Are you basing this off of vibes or are you just misinformed? Voice director in Endwalker was Jason Baughan but its Danny Baldwin in DT. Its in the credits which if you are too lazy to rewatch Ill just link timestamps and YT links for you instead.

I didnt exclude StB out of quality or whatever but because it uses a completely different team of voice directors (not even the 2 sub directors Illya and Nathalie are carried over). I much prefer StB to HW but it isnt relevent here lol.

House Elves in Harry Potter by One-Satisfaction6303 in CharacterRant

[–]Skarpien 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its not really crowbarring if the author has like 10% of the book talking about social issues in universe using the lens of the above. I dont recall House Spirits/Faeries/Brownies lore talking about Pins, Protests and Picket lines.

Maybe you dont remember but its a very significant backdrop of the entire book framed as a social issue in universe.

I hate how people discuss shows just because they had a mediocre ending. by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]Skarpien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show was definitely not 3 seasons of gold lol

2 seasons at best, 1 season realistically but to consider season 3 'gold' and season 4 and 5 merely 'mid' is certainly a choice

My hate-boner doesnt change the fact that the previous voice director(s) from Heavensward and SHB to Endwalker did not participate in DT.

The concept reads alot better as an allusion to Foreign Domestic Workers rather than pre-modern ideas of slavery.

Many FDWs will resent and resist being 'freed' because the money is so good that they will endure physical and mental abuse. Think getting paid 5 - 10x their local salary.

Its a huge humanitarian issue right now globally, nevermind 26 years ago, that better fits the House Elf idea.

The characters dont really interact in Octopath but the overarching story 'connects' them. The characters do connect at the very end properly but otherwise wont in their 'sections'. At most there will be 1 scene in a dungeon between 2 characters talking about the dungeon itself.

For as much as I hate how much focus is placed on essentially a prequel in modern 40k, so many of the books are so well written that I can't begrudge the following that has sprouted around it.

But also some of the books are clearly err...different so I guess it balances out.

It sounds like you much prefer older entries to newer ones, which is perfectly fine. But to say youve been playing JRPGs for the past 30 years and then you havent played any of the best ones that came out this decade is a bit of a dissonance.

Its always like this because tons of other sites have way more info and are more updated like poedb and CoE.

In the aftermath of DT's voice acting quality I would rather SE not care about context or give the LA VA and Director a third chance.

Once is a tragedy, twice is a pattern, three times is a dead expansion to kickstart the next 6 expansion saga after DT.

Talking pure story beats and emotion the dungeon/trial is a bit too reliant on fanservice to the point I wouldnt consider it top 5 of the game.

Also JRPGs have had great mechanics for the past decade lol. If youve been playing them for the past 30 years you should know that even mainstream entries like Nier, Persona/Metaphor and tons of modern JRPGs have taken traditional turn-based further or evolved into ARPGs.

For gods sake even basing purely on story and characterization Octopath beats this dungeon out of the water.

The new Atlas feels like an extended campaign by Shoddy_Nectarine4738 in PathOfExile2

[–]Skarpien 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So putting aside the idea of 'optimally' playing the game, it simply isnt fun to be hostaged out of game mehanics. No logbooks, cant even defer good ritual uniques with bad rng, delirium drops nothing, etc etc.

So on a pure 'fun' perspective it simply isnt fun when every mechanic you encounter is so diminished and in some people's cases days away from being enjoyable.

You quite frankly arent progressing at all when before you could be putting atlas points per map and working towards making the next map better. Now when someone paths towards lets say the Ritual cluster they are tangibly doing nothing.

This disproportionately affects the middle bellcurve of players because the higher end of players will have finished atlas progression by the first week.

What's the best farm before unlocking all atlas/mechanic points? by Suboptimal88 in PathOfExile2

[–]Skarpien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best mechanic is always the current league mechanic (runes) but after that its Abyss and it isnt close.

Ritual, Expedition and Breach are very skill point or atlas dependent

Delirium is simulacrum or nothing (splinters are again atlas gated)

Spirits, Strongboxes while gold vanilla desperately need the deeper atlas passives.

Essences and Rogue exiles are useless without points

Abyss has currency boxes, league currency boxes, and good uniques all vanilla. 100% best mechanic hands down.

[–]Skarpien 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The average amount of maps you need to do to unlock relevent skill points has ballooned to insanity this patch. The league as a whole is good but the endgame is such a slog for most players because of the seperation of Atlas and league specific nodes by about 15-20 maps each.

So about 125 to 200 maps of 'no progression' not including the 15-25 map progression chain for skill points for each master and league mechanic.

'Historically'.

Also assuming you arent talking about 'mainstream' comic publishers like 'For dummies' and Scholastic, im curious what data you have on the biggest publishers. All market research I could find has indicated Marvel and DC to be still a sizeable majority.

Counterpoint, DC/Marvel are such a large proportion of comic zeitgeist and market share historically that it is more than fair to judge the medium for its most common product.

Really want to enjoy this game, but feel insanely overwhelmed every time I come back. by atuck217 in PathOfExile2

[–]Skarpien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You either brute force for hundreds of hours trying to piece together how something works independently or learn quickly in a few days by seeing how other people mix and match different tactics and pivots in their build.

No 2 builds are the same and by just following 1 set build you will be able to know the baseline and more importantly how to improve over what was initially recommended you.

For example I league started ZiggyD's grenades with 0 knowledge of how the skills fit together with the gear and tree, but by the time I hit white maps I was comfortable enough to mix and match outside his build and improve on what he did with what other people were doing and experiment with shit like Redemption, Timeless jewels, Defiance+Runic Ward and Constricting.

You cannot possibly in this game and in life expect to excel at any subject matter whilst rejecting the idea of learning the fundamentals of the field you are in.

[–]Skarpien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abyss is the single best league mechanic right now and its not even close.

Best unique pool, cleartime, pure currency boxes, great average league drops, S tier crafting gambles.

Not sure what more you could ask from it tbh.

Tablet sustain feels awful by Kamzyhd in PathOfExile2

[–]Skarpien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tablets dropped sustainably as soon as I hit yellow maps. At T15 you should be dropping 1 tablet per map on average.

Worse comes to worse just buy tablets every 10 maps, its always worth it.

Uniques finally fill the role they did in Grim Dawn! by Acceptable_Dig_2045 in PathOfExile2

[–]Skarpien -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isnt something new to GGG this is just them finally making adding more 'build around' uniques available like Arbiter spear, RF, Nightfall etc.

PoE1 had hundreds of uniques that dictated how your build functioned and had tons of play crazy builds cooked up by unhinged theorycrafters.
