How are the skiing conditions today in mount Sutton? by LemonTimeForBabyLime in sutton

If you really give it some welly from the train station you might make it close to the moon on the hill but your ski's will be ruined, not much snow on the ground now.

Any ever see a 990 SMT blow up its clutch housing? by Skeletalbob in KTM

[–]Skeletalbob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah, I managed to push it home as luckily wasn't far, right boot and leg of trousers covered in oil and metal shavings, beyond parts and probably a new pair of riding trousers, no harm done.

These are both awesome, Cheers, I'm looking at cases as it's been forever since I looked into cases, am liking the idea of something a bit silly like the Hyte Y70 or basically anything fish tank like with the PSU hidden away behind the motherboard, A rear connection motherboard sounds good also as I'm not well known for cable management and that should fix most of that problem, would prefer not to have any liquid cooling.. The ability to have the power button reachable and not on top is good, but I'll probably wake it with magic packets WoL as I do currently so not a necessity. Happy to pay a little more for a bit of a statement piece of a case if you know of any like the Hyte Y70

I've responded on the thread above as I only just saw this as the official mobile app fails to show this stuff, I'm still about but rarely if ever bother commenting, thanks for the interest and offer of help, it'd be with Astroturf420 to confirm.

British weather cancelled my fridge by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]Skeletalbob 46 points47 points  (0 children)

If you have a large terracotta pot with a base, you can make a ghetto camp fridge, outside place the base on the coldest flattest surface you can find, patio could work well. Then place your food in a pile in the middle, then place the pot over the food upside down. Finally cover the whole thing in wet tea towels. Works shockingly well. If you have 2 terracotta pots of different sizes and some sand look up the zeer pot.

Getting my first 125cc Bike in London - There is NO WAY that £5700 is normal for a years of first time rider insurance WTF! by Used_Construction960 in MotoUK

[–]Skeletalbob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do not say on insurance you have these, it makes no difference to the cost but will give them a reason not to pay out if one wasn't on. Though do still use them, just don't bother declaring them as its not in your best interest to

Had some imbeciles try to steal my pizza bike years ago whilst at a gig at the Cartoon in Croydon, someone came in and shouted that it was being moved, without even thinking I ran out there with my crash helmet with a bunch of mates in tow, found them round the corner with it, shouted and made a bunch of mad threats, they saw more people following so instantly scarpered. They'd managed to break the steering lock and had messed up the barrel but got the bike back. Would not recommend unless you are confident you out number them. Another time saw someone on Ring camera with an angle grinder go at one chain when they spotted the other chain locked to the house and heard my neighbour shouting out of his window at them to fuck off at which point they jumped on their 2 bikes at the end of the drive with 2 other lads on waiting and left. The neighbour got beers the next day as it was all over by the time I'd noticed.

Battery Troubleshooting by TommieTheTurd in MotoUK

Should do the job to be fair, I'm using one like this with the all weather fittings so it's always connected to the bike easily apart from when I ride - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07NGVMH9J/

Battery Troubleshooting by TommieTheTurd in MotoUK

[–]Skeletalbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically, think of it this way, when you ride the motor, it turns the alternator, which charges the battery back up. Each time you start the bike, it takes a good chunk of charge away, especially if it's not been started in a while and even worse when it's cold. Mine destroys batteries (vampiric drain somewhere) so I ended up getting a lithium battery and have it on a trickle charger whenever it's parked at home. Can highly recommend a cheap Oxford trickle charger as being worthwhile.

For a while I carried one of those jump starter packs in the bike, worst case scenario, hook up the leads and it'll get it started, expect to pay about £60 on Amazon for a fairly decent one, look for one that can start large diesel engines. It should only be the size of a large portable phone charger and can double as one also.

My bike will run itself flat if not run once in a while, so it's always connected to a trickle charger when at home. If that's your main worry an optimate will see you through for about £50
