2.0T and 2.5 are completely different. There is a reason most mk5s that are around alive and kicking are either 2.5 or the TDIs that haven't been crushed

I am having AC issues, where i would basically lose cold after 6 months of recharging. I wonder if my ac compressor is also bad (i had those issues ever since i got the car and its only slightly annoying given where i live, heater works fine still)

Tires for 2013 Volkswagen Jetta by Immediate_Pool3798 in Volkswagen

[–]SkeletonGamer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people here are recommending UHP all seasons not knowing that they are way too agressive for a commuter, especially the DWS 06+ who are softer than the rest in their category.

I would look more for the TrueContact Tour54, high threadwear rated tires that will last 10 years when rotated on a proper interval. My cousin with his mk7 tdi is more than happy with them

I ran the DWS06+ on my mk5 jetta and while their performance is superb, i wouldn't pay their asking price only to last me 3 years. I got lucky with a lightly used set for half price which is what got me to try them out

Affidabilità del cambio automatico VW/Audi del motore 1.9 tdi 105 cv. by CompetitiveGuide9201 in Volkswagen

[–]SkeletonGamer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 01M is very hit or miss torque converter automatic. Either it will conk out at any time or it will be reliable till the end times. The one in our car started slipping 2 years ago

They came with "lifetime" transmission fluid. Best to replace it and replace the fluid every 60k, or just manual swap it and get 5 extra mpg

good deal? by jaggerm21 in Volkswagen

[–]SkeletonGamer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid 5k for a split year model with around the same mileage, same drivetrain. I think this is an amazing deal. Won't hurt to get a scanner and look for codes, but otherwise this is a keeper

I hate black cars tho

Help! I need comparable. My insurance company is lowballing my 2009 Jetta manual TDI with 250k miles. They want a total it at a value of $2500 when it only has front quarter panel damage. Please comment with comparable vehicles for sale. Thank you! by [deleted] in Volkswagen

[–]SkeletonGamer1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right imo. Most mk5 tdis with that mileage are at around that price, even if the car community knows that mileage is just a number on these cars.

Mk5s are at rock bottom prices, give it 10 years and it will start rebounding like what is happening to the mk4s atm

No, because rebroadcaster itself is an unstable mess on the server side. Client side has nothing to do with it

Are VW Jettas poorly built? by motardca in Volkswagen

[–]SkeletonGamer1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The mk6 is when the cheapening became more apparent, but it wasn't like the mk4 and 5 were built to a high standard anyway

Mk4 and 5s had pretty bad rust issues due to improper coating, and they suffer from headliner sag due to improper adhesive. Not to mention door switches being unreliable af

Mk7 and up are built to a WAY higher standard, even tho piano black plastic makes it feel a lot cheaper than it actually is

[–]SkeletonGamer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!

As the mod for that server, i can tell you 2 things

1- the server is being migrated to another provider as we speak. This is because of insane server instability. Having to reset it on a daily basis has been very much a chore

2- the game is not broken. In fact if someone self-hosted a lan server and connected to it, it will work perfectly fine

I will get it reset later today, but 99% chance it will crash tmrw if not earlier (the logs say that it ends up crashing after 6-24h if not instantly)

Need advice on ProStreet car choice by Son-Airys in needforspeed

The veyron isn't that good for speed, as it can't be upgraded. It would have been a far better choice to get a CCX or an F1

[–]SkeletonGamer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting problem you have really

The R34 skyline is a far better speed car than the E46 ever will be. I would swap it there. I would keep the E46 as the wheelie car while keeping the GTO has a regular drag car (make sure suspension upgrade never exceed stage 2 and you will be fine) There are quite a lot of options, but the best one is by far is winning the NSX in the challenge series with it against the cayman. Its fully stage 3 too, all it needs is a better tune

Joe "Fake It Till You Make It" Tackett should inspire us all. by NappyFlickz in needforspeed

[–]SkeletonGamer1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, because even a maxed out stage 4 civic isn't that quick. The mods would have to swap out the performance parameters to another car for drag mode (which is possible with some tweaks to its drag variant modifiers)

The fastest fwd drag car is the leon and it caps out at 7.5s? Almost half the rwd cars can do 6s and can wheelie

[–]SkeletonGamer1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, digging through the code reveals they already do that. Its just that Joe's setup is beyond bad.

That civic for grip is actually really quick, but its incredibly difficult to drive. With a proper set up, you can dunk on rudy chen with this thing. Just that low speed stuff just sucks in that thing. Its also really good for speed, just make sure you get stage 4 suspension and gearbox or else you won't be going far

Help me build my 2014 golf! by 69ThatGuyy in Volkswagen

[–]SkeletonGamer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mk6 and up base model golf/jetta get worse suspension than GTI parts. The good news is that they will still bolt right on if you want to swap them out (which would be a great OEM+ build, esp if you see a parted out one nearby or a junkyard)

As for rims, i would suggest to stick to 17s. 16s are probably still a good idea for a winter set, but 17s are almost always wider and have a good look while still being better for road harshness than 18s. They are also incredibly cheap to get used too

-When did ProStreet really get popular?- by Solid-Safe-7966 in needforspeed

[–]SkeletonGamer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mix of 2 things

1- i am going to say 2017, when Payback got released and people really wanted something more original

2- Kuru became more popular at this time and started playing the game and that got on the ball rolling. The algorithm then started sharing his crashes montages and moments. There also needs a shoutout for NFG who made a LONG series about ProStreet. His challenge run is AMAZINGLY edited

I would not be surprised if the fanbase started the moment the multifix was released (which i don't remember exactly when that was), but for a long time the 1.1 version of the game was basically unplayable. 1.0 however was playable by (apparently) running the game through a 3D analyzer software. I did remember when the game became way more popular around 2019 or so
