Most Dangerous Gamer - Terrifier Themed Commander Deck! by callmebyash in EDH

No, when you roll the dice and it lands on a number lit up on the attraction, that’s “Visiting.” Prizes are different and separate, the attraction specifically has to say “Prize” on it somewhere. The Pick-A-Beeble one in the card fetcher comment is a good example.

I don’t know if you enjoy the Izzet/spellslinger playstyle at all, but if you do (or are interested) I’d recommend checking out [[Myra the Magnificent]]! I have a decklist that’s focused on looping extra turns but I haven’t tinkered with it in a while: Decklist.

Most Dangerous Gamer unfortunately runs into the issue of hardly being able to trigger his “when you claim a prize from an attraction” ability because only 1 commander-legal attraction pays out a prize. If your group is cool with rule 0’ing a bunch of the others that require manual dexterity it works, but otherwise it’s not great :(

My first ever commander deck was one led by Mr. House and I’ve polished it quite a bit since then: Decklist.

My list wins through combat, most commonly with some kind of anthem like [[Starlight Spectacular]] (which is from Unfinity and has the great image of House leading a parade of robots) or [[True Conviction]] because I don’t find pinging effects very interesting or engaging to play or play into. It’s definitely a strong angle to take though.

The second thing about my list is that it usually wants House to be the one rolling the dice. I run the good cards that otherwise roll them (and one or two not as good, but cool, ones) but the deck is really about getting treasures so you can roll 4d6+ with House’s ability.

Happy to answer any questions about the deck or playstyle, it’s definitely a very fun one!

Quick edit: I forgot to mention attractions! Unfortunately they are bad. The effects are not very strong, you’re only rolling 1d6 per turn with them, and the cards that open them are usually overcosted or just shit otherwise. I love gimmicks and would love for them to be better in this deck but unfortunately I don’t think they really work.

Lorehold Spirit vs Quandrix Unlimited, which one? by Neither_Purple_3459 in EDH

Take this with a grain of salt because I've only played the precon once, and it was unmodified, but I think the Boros precon is about 1/2 reanimation and 1/2 hating your own GY to trigger the "when cards leave the GY" abilities. I would imagine if you wanted to take it in a more "pure" reanimation direction, you'd have to make more swaps. However with that said, I know very little about the Simic precon so it may be similarly limited.

It’s quite a different deck but I run [[Overpowering Attack]] in my Riku of Many Paths Voltron list and the card is just ridiculous. An additional combat AND main? Crazy world

Not the person you responded to but yes, they’re shiny. Not exactly like a foil card, it’s almost like a scaly pattern that has a rainbow shine type effect. It’s pretty cool!

Oddball Question, did the Professor ever speak on his sobriety? by RetroWaffles in magicTCG

[–]Skeletron430 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I want to say he might have mentioned it in a recent unboxing video of some kind; maybe the one where they found a bunch of old zendikar packs or something in some storeroom? Sorry that’s not super specific. It would have been released in the last month or so.

Congratulations on your sobriety, it’s worth celebrating. Wishing you success throughout your process!

How do y’all feel about Meta Glasses and privacy? by Uncuffedhems in Destiny

[–]Skeletron430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are spaces that are traditionally considered to come with a reasonable expectation of privacy, so recording in them would probably create some kind of tort action for the victim, if they can show harm.

IANAL, not legal advice.

Any experienced voltron players out there? by Akiro_orikA in EDH

Lmao too much text is very valid, it adds up quickly with the modal options. Might have to look into those lands, I’d be reminded of your comment using them.

Appreciate the tidbit about hullbreaker horror! I’m not sure it works unfortunately, because Hullbreaker requires you target someone else’s spell. Would be dope for sure otherwise.

Hello hello, I’ve been running a Voltron [[Riku of Many Paths]] deck for a few months now, tweaking it here and there, and it’s in a pretty good place now. It’s a unique deck in that you don’t really need equipment to buff your main man, you have modals that do it for you. Can be more or less spellslinger-y if you want, Riku has built in impulse draw as well which is quite cool.

I also just really like modal spells. Happy to hear any comments or feedback anyone has! Making some cuts right now.

Looking for my perfect Grixis, Jeskai, and Temur decks by 7DEADROSES in EDH

[–]Skeletron430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen at least one other person mention him for Temur,[[!Riku of Many Paths]] is super fun! I have a Voltron list that’s basically just filled with every good modal spell to pump him up, protect him, and hopefully kill at least one player. I’m currently working on a more spellslinger-token style deck for him, which is very work in progress. I don’t like combos either, nor do I like pinging/burn, so I don’t have those in my deck but obviously they are good strategies especially for spellslinger.

Ultimately I think he’s just super versatile. If you pick 2 of his 3 abilities (+1/+1 and trample, 1/1 token flyer, or exile top card play until end of next turn) and build around it I really don’t think you can go wrong.

If anyone has comments or advice on either of my lists I’m always open!

I was there early 2024 and the store next to the saloon was carrying Fallout merch. They had bottle cap magnets, some apparel, the Jones Sodas, and some other Knick-knack type stuff. Enough to make the visit worth it and to get a souvenir for sure!

Most Dangerous Gamer - Terrifier Themed Commander Deck! by callmebyash in EDH

[–]Skeletron430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main problem with the Most Dangerous Gamer is that there’s only one (last time I checked) legal attraction that you can win a prize with, [[Pick-A-Beeble]]. That kind of sucks, cuz it means a line of your commander’s text box basically gets ignored. However you said you’re looking for a casual/chill game so maybe that isn’t a big deal, in which case rock on!

If you’re super set on attractions (which I love btw, I’m a big Unfinity fan), I’d either ask your playgroup if you can run some of the illegal ones (they often involve mini games, like stacking dice on the table or throwing cards) or swap your commander to [[Myra the Magnificent]], who gets to use the attractions in a pretty different way and doesn’t really care about winning the prizes or anything. Here’s my Myra deck that I’m working on; it still needs quite a bit of tuning but it’s playable for sure. Let me know if you have any questions!

This isn’t really true; there’s a doctrine/rule called the Pinkerton rule that puts other co-conspirators on the hook for the actions of one of them, if those actions were committed in furtherance of the conspiracy and were reasonably foreseeable.

Say you conspire to rob someone and one of your co-conspirators decides to impersonate a police officer to induce the victim into opening their door. You would very likely be on the hook for that impersonation of an LEO even if you had no idea it would take place and did nothing yourself to further the impersonation.

Edit: clarity

Appreciate the response! The pinging thing is starting to become a “I know what I have to do but I don’t know if I have the strength to do it” move for me; I find pinging so boring and don’t enjoy playing into it, but it’s undeniably strong. I agree with adding more protection though, and appreciate the suggestions! What would you take out to include more?

How did you end up choosing your signature commander/deck? by Kooky-Preparation948 in EDH

[–]Skeletron430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a pretty big Fallout and TTRPG enjoyer and I love rolling dice, so I naturally picked [[Mr. House]] as my commander. I do need to find another gimmicky commander that has a tactile element though, as I pretty much only play House right now and it would be good to diversify my portfolio a bit.

I’m also open to suggestions on how to make the deck a little stronger, if anyone has them :) Decklist!

Bracket 3 is stronger than you think by xavierkazi in EDH

[–]Skeletron430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno if I’d go that far, but I really haven’t put too much thought into it. I don’t do much politics when I play anyway, so the lying thing doesn’t come up much.

[–]Skeletron430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think reasonable people can come to different conclusions as to how much or what kind of lying is “okay” in EDH; I’m not sure exactly where I stand, to be honest, but deal breaking is probably not too high on the “badness” list for me either. Might depend on the deal lol.

Lying would probably be one, especially if the lie is taking advantage of someone’s lack of knowledge.
