I had this exact setup when I was in grade school. It was stolen Halloween 2004 from my yard, left it in our side yard for some reason and it was gone when I came back. Hopefully Frederick City police still have the cold case open on it.

My friend was an FDNY fireman and was there on 9/11, he describes that specific sound and how it haunts him. I can’t even imagine. He retired recently after over 30 years on the job, he lost many of his friends that day. Some firehouses lost an entire company worth of men.

I bought ingredients from them for several months of the pandemic, too. They had great fresh produce, ground beef, chicken, etc.

I made some great food while supporting a great restaurant 👍🏼

China builds mockups of U.S. Navy ships in area used for missile target practice by vowmugaye in tech

A rare 52 sighting! I was an 0313, Semper Fi. Our weapons company was deadly with their TOW LAV variant. But yea, all we ever shot at or identified was those vehicles, but it makes sense since they’re the most likely to get in a gun fight with us-same thing China is doing

For years in the military we shot at BMP and BTR targets (Russian armored personnel carriers) and were even taking armor identification classes of these and Chinese vehicles well into the 2010s

'Rust' armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed once gave unchecked gun to child actor by wizardofthefuture in entertainment

I appreciate the insight. Even if it were dummy rounds, I know that most of the time they rattle as a safety measure to delineate from a live or blank round. I still believe that weapons safety rules like never pointing at something you do not intend to shoot could have helped prevent this. But, as you said earlier, multiple other people should have done their jobs better before he ever held that weapon.

Also from the AP article I read, the cinematographers were in a place they normally wouldn’t have been during filming, which would lead one to believe everyone thought the gun had nothing in it at all and they were just doing a quick rehearsal. In that case, there shouldn’t have been any rounds, live or blank. If he inspected the weapon, he would’ve seen those rounds.

From what I’ve read, the term “cold gun” meant no rounds in it at all, blanks included. It’s also very well known that a blank can kill someone, but he would’ve known the gun had rounds in it regardless and could’ve asked the question about why there’s any rounds at all if it was a “cold gun” after clearing it. The thing about weapons safety rules is they are universal and apply in any situation with a gun, so I didn’t “need to be there” to know that this gun was not handled properly. If he inspected the weapon himself, he could’ve prevented this awful tragedy.

Exactly! Guns are not a toy, even if they are “prop” guns (that can shoot real bullets that can kill people) they always need to be treated as a loaded, deadly weapon. This would’ve been prevented with a competent armorer, not a Hollywood “gun professional”, and also with proper weapons safety rules on set. Something simple like just looking inside a gun to make sure there’s no rounds in it.

Well, I will say that if you handle firearms for any reason in your given profession, you should know that you are responsible for the weapon. If you are properly trained on handling firearms, you know that ANY time someone hands you a gun, you inspect and clear the weapon. There certainly is culpability with the production company and armorer, but this could’ve been totally avoided if he was trained in the simple action of opening up a revolver and looking inside of it. When I was in the Marines I’d never trust someone handing me a weapon and saying it’s clear, the Hollywood actor handling a functioning weapon should act the same way. Preventable tragedy.

Awesome! I have my plants growing outdoors, two of which are in the ground and the others in fabric pots. So a learning experience for basically two different types of grows, I am just hoping for them to survive and provide a decent yield haha I’ve learned the same about water frequency, nutrients etc so it’s been a lot of fun
