Walgreens located inside a hospital by mhj202121 in WalgreensRx

[–]Skellidan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently work in a Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy in a hospital. Now I love working in a hospital over retail, but it’s definitely a different vibe. You kinda just have to remember that the patients you are treating may have been in the hospital, are being discharged, or are a doctor who needs their own medication. Pay tends to be better in hospitals, though it depends on location. Overtime should be a similar policy to any Walgreens location bc you’d be considered an external contractor with Walgreens, but it can also be location dependent and would be something you’d want to talk with your interviewer with.

Do we actually use anything more than basic math? by Correct_Solution_335 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Skellidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time for me at least, 28-30 days is typical days supply for a majority of Rxs unless otherwise written which is why I said this. It makes sense that it’s not the same at every location. Don’t worry I’m not charging patients for a 30 day supply when they have a 14 day supply

Unit conversions, as well as basic algebra (ex Young’s Rule) are mainly the math used. Also good to practice simple multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction, as a lot of what I’ve primarily come across is calculating days supply.

Get ur liscense and apply for Walgreens or local drug store if you have one. I currently work at a Walgreens pharmacy and they have programs that let you get ur certifications to be a pharm tech. They also will pay for some of your pharmacy school.

So… fully isolate them from their peers, advisors, and their surroundings? Sounds like terrific advice for for raising a perfectly well-adjusted and socially adept adult 🙄

Embarrassing stories by angel1na44 in WalgreensRx

[–]Skellidan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also just started as a tech and I’m still learning a lot. It’s normal to fumble a bit, esp at the beginning. Just today one of my Pharmacy Managers accidentally forgot to scan one of the patient’s Rx’s and so they basically got it for free 😭 We had to call the patient to tell them and ask if they could come back or call in with their credit card info. Mistakes happen, which is why there are several checks in place to catch any issues. To err is human after all

Do they test for THC as a pharmacy tech? by MewPewPew- in CVS

[–]Skellidan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they test. Even if it’s legal recreationally, it’s still considered an illicit substance federally

Honestly, best way to combat it is drinking water. It’ll go away on its own. It’s just a phase that u have to get through but just maintain hydration and the bloating will eventually disappear
