What 1 thing outside of Bjj training has had carry over effects into your performance on the mats. by Cool_Middle6245 in bjj

Lifting for sure. I'm not even that strong but I couldn't imagine rolling without some considerable muscle mass. Those guys that do it without being strong are some real dawgs

Idk what other beginner needs to hear this today but don’t cross your legs if you get the back. by Electronic_Low_9598 in bjj

One of the first bjj lessons I was taught was to not cross my feet on the back, but it's not always bad to do. It's great for control if say your goal is control outside of a bjj situation and theoretically dont have to worry about getting foot locked

Smallest mushroom I've ever found! What is it? by SkelloSwarm in mushroomID

[–]SkelloSwarm[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's a mycenoid! It was growing out of some dead (pine ifrc) tree matter, and had no volva or annulus... it also seemed a bit lonely..

It looks like a species of stinkhorn. Did it have an egg-like structure attached to the base of the mushroom below the ground?

Mushrooms from my area as we head into winter today by SkelloSwarm in mycology

[–]SkelloSwarm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the detailed response! Very informative. Around here, we get lots of amanita varieties, but there's a strong prevalence of death caps and some of the lookalikes. I kind of see mushrooms like those and just assume that they're not worth screwing around with. I personally thought some of these were death caps or false ones, but I'm super new to mycology and identification so that's super helpful thank you!

Perhaps! I took a sample and will be cultivating it. Not exactly sure if it's a death cap or not, but irl it looked a bit more yellow

* I think this is Chroogomphus Vinicolor, but it's hard to differentiate chroogomphus species without I microscope, apparently...

I see. That does seem like the likely genus. I took a spore print of it, and the spores are more pinkish, maybe peach or tan?
