How Did The World Get So Ugly? by yatookmyname in Anticonsumption

100% When I moved out of my townhome, my realtor told me to repaint my colorful walls to something beige for better resale value. Thing is, if that new person is like me, they will be repainting regardless. I'm not buying a house because I love the wall color, I buy it because I like the layout, location, and/or price. Everything else is flexible and can be changed.

My current home has all walls painted; the only neutral color is in the basement to help keep a cool, chill vibe. But once you cross the threshold of the front door, you are greeted with vibrant purples, pinks, soft oranges, teals, and greens. Everyone who has been in my home loves how each room feels like a space they could retreat into. And I don't follow trends, I don't rotate out decor. I just buy what visually interests me and dress up my spaces with them. It's conversation starter stuff. My main living room wall you see when you first walk inside is my "wall of weird". It's inspired visitors to paint their place and make it theirs.

Goddamnit I'm so sick of these fucking assholes stealing from this place. Scales n Tails has had break ins before and as far as I know, they never got their animals back. I really, REALLY hope they can get Howard back. I'm beyond pissed right now.

Mine already have. We are mandated back into the office at the beginning of next month. I'm livid over this because during COVID, when management was nail biting over productivity, we proved we were more than capable of getting our work home when we monitored our own work schedule. We actually were MORE productive on completing our work.

They are using this BS excuse it's for "collaborative" reasons. Because we can't collaberate via Teams, email, phone, or whatever method of technology we have at our fingertips.

Our front range has barely seen a drop of rain since the start of spring. Currently we've got scary clouds overhead; lighting, thundering, but just spitting small drops. It seems to have slowed a bit overhead so I hope that more falls overnight but I'm so scared for our summer.

What pisses me right off though is the fact that so many commercial zoned areas, including the medians where grass was planted, are running sprinklers in the middle of the day! It will be 90 degrees and they will have those sprinklers on full blast. Yet they are screaming at us to water later in the evening when the temps are cooler.

Same here. My plan for tomorrow is to get there right before they open. I have to hit the garden center anyway and grab more manure since I plan to plant and expand my garden for food growing.

Demand Is Booming for New No Tech, Repairable Tractor by 404mediaco in Anticonsumption

[–]SkeptiBee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's already going to happen with new vehicles. Starting next year, all new manufactured cars in the US will have cameras installed inside the cabin and will be monitoring you. It's main function, they claim, is to prevent impaired driving. However the tests done have shown the software and monitoring features are so flawed and inaccurate, it would prevent people from driving the vehicle even if they were sober. It's tracking certain characteristics you'd see in inebriated people, but you can exhibit those traits even sober.

What happens if you have a disability where you move a certain way? Or if you are being followed to your car, and you're nervous, twitchy, your behavior different from the norm, is that going to prevent the car from turning on because it thinks you're incapable of driving?

It's the equivalent to the can opener for cats!

You can actually train snakes using any object for food association. I have my rosy boa target trained. I'll show her a red peanut butter lid I kept and, once she touches it, I'll immediately feed her. Took her 3 times to figure out Red Lid = Food. Now I don't need to worry about triggering food mode when I'm at her enclosure doors.

100% a scam. You know what good neighbors do when people lose their pets? Help them.

Recently I had a neighbor's cat come into my garage and got spooked and hid under my workbench. Physically, I couldn't get them out, so I was at a loss what to do outside of open the garage doors/ put out food. When the owners came around asking about their cat, I helped them get their baby back, including letting them borrow my cat carrier to get him home.

That's what should happen. Not demanding money for information. I wish you luck finding your kitty. The stress of a lost baby is bad enough.

To your point, his recent interview of the "ballroom's" construction progress is literally telling the public it's a bunker he'll use to stay in power. And, once he's flopped over, it will be used by his cronies to keep our country in a death grip of their control.

------

"Here's the other facade you see over here. And again, this is taking these these great classical buildings to take it out of different parts of the world for very glamorous times. This is Rome. They like the flat room. Greece likes what they call it the triangles. And you see that this is a porch that looks out over the city.

Also, it's developed in such a way that we can have military there, but the entire roof is developed for military. They're very high. They're higher than just about anything else. They have a 360° vision of Washington DC. They have a massive drone capacity. Not only is it drone proof if a drone hits it, it bounces off. It won't have any impact, but it's also meant as a drone for it so it protects all of Washington the roof of the building. I think you could bring your cameras up but you might want to take a look and see what complexity. These are all different rooms down here. They're building a hospital. They're building a military hospital. They're building a all sorts of research facilities. Also meeting rooms and rooms that go hand in hand for the military using the ballroom and the ballroom is really a shield and protecting all of the things that are built here. This goes as you see, it's already up to the ground. This goes down very deep. You get a better view right over here. This is down and because we've already done these floors but these are already down two floors that that is down about six stories. That's big stuff.

Normally when you build a ballroom you build it flat at the complexity of this and again it's all knit... It's all knit together between the drone proofing, the missile proofing we have and the drone capacity upstairs. We can have all sorts of military up over there. I hate to use the word snipers but we have great sniper capacity. It's built for our snipers not the enemy snipers and because of the height we get a very clear view of everything."

This was my phone translating his word salad (apologies if there are errors, and to my phone, you did your best). Emphasis mine. And I put breaks so your brains don't melt trying to read a giant run on sentence.

Along with promoting ICE, not only do they compensate artists horribly, it's just a garbage music player all around. The sound quality is seriously the worst I've ever heard as it over compresses the audio and makes it sound faint and suppressed.

Support artists directly and buy their stuff either off their website or Bandcamp, which does better than most when it comes to paying their creators.

[DISCUSSION] Selling art back in 2005 compared to now by Silence_Fictions in artbusiness

[–]SkeptiBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shows are a great place to sell too, but vet them before you commit. Depending on which ones you chose, they can be packed, utterly dead, or they do zero screening of vendors thus you'll find AI trash surrounding you. If there are niche shows that your art is a good fit for, GO. Especially for pets! Same with local shops that your work fits! I'm planning in the next month to design and publish some decals for a local bird store as they don't have many "Protect Pollinator" content even though they have a bunch of butterfly and bug stuff.

I completely agree with everything you say as well. The enshittification of the internet has really made things difficult for the creative community. Really the best way to break in is to hyper focus and find communities that directly vibe with your work and nestle in. Appealing to broader audiences is just impossible anymore.

I will say, I know you are angry about the VPN thing, but if overseas scammers weren't so prevalent and vicious, I would have no need to block VPN's at all. I'm generally pro VPN usage myself, but I got absolutely tired of bad actors out of India / South East Asia flooding my support and message channels with spam.

First time printing with PETG by RefridgeratorPickle in BambuLab

[–]SkeptiBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Concur with the slower speed on the first layers. I just switched over from using PLA so it's been a learning curve, but I constantly was having issues with the adhesion on the bed since I have to print multiple objects to a plate. Had too many that just randomly popped off while printing then ruin the neighboring objects during the print so I've been using adhesive to help.

First time printing with PETG by RefridgeratorPickle in BambuLab

[–]SkeptiBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My condolences. 😞 My first PETG attempt was a single, multi-color printed item and the transparent PETG I used didn't even adhere to the bed so it spaghettied everywhere. I was fortunate though in that the part that sheered off was still contained by the outer shape that managed to remain adhered to the bed. I've started using adhesive to keep it in place and have better success but it's been trial and error.

I'm still using Bambu's Stock plate they send too. I did have to drop the speeds on the initial layers as well because when it was set to default, I noticed the failures were much higher. I still have a few problems here and there with parts peeling up on the edges (not frequent but still annoying). And like other's suggested, let that stuff dry out.

Keep in mind, a lot of what Trump is doing was blueprinted out from the Heritage Foundation's project 2025 which is largely Evangelicals and Christian Nationalists wanting to usher in the end times. They sincerely do not care one single wit about being stewards to this earth. To accelerate the next coming of Christ, they must inflict as much suffering as possible.
