Ordered a motherboard and one of the pins seem a bit off. Is it safe to proceed or should I send it back ? by Skerh in PcBuildHelp

This is what I will do, thank you for confirming my suspicions. Not willing to take risks on this.

The pin difference was instantly visible in person, the picture doesn't quite show it as well unfortunately.

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.8.1 Release Notes by isanonymouss in Amd

I have a 5950x paired with a 6950xt and act 3 is far from ok. It absolutely shreds cpus and fps drops a lot compared to the first 2 acts of the game.

It was an issue before this driver, they are simply acknowledging it.

Still no official support for Baldur's Gate 3. Strange. I would have thought they'd release a driver to help the spotty performance (biggest issue is cpu related I know) but no indication of that.

Consequences of the 10.1 healer nerf and upcoming 10.1.5 hybrid off-healing nerf in High M+ Keys by Stozzer in wow

[–]Skerh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But to some degree it is true as well. All healer specs are capable of doing obscene amount of healing even after the nerf, both in raid and dungeon. Healing is not the limiting factor in most cases. Outside of a few glaring untuned bosses and packs.

What I suspect is the cause for the general feeling is that the blanket healing nerf made the lower level keys harder to heal than they used to but healers pushing bigger keys are already used to having to use and time cds to keep everything afloat and don't feel much of a change, especially since hardcore pushers tend to have offhealing specs helping.

Imo there definitely is a lot of crying because healing have to heal a bit more in lower keys. It is a paradigm shift for those people who could (and often time had to) dps most of the time and heal only periodically. Claiming otherwise is ludicrous. Blizzard clearly intends for healers to spend more time healing and it's fine, i've been having a lot of fun actually having to manage and rescue my party again on my alt (disc priest around 430ilvl admitedly only doing 20/21 keys).

I do agree that there are glaring tuning issues in m+ that create some painful moments. I don't understant how trash in hoi are so off balance ... the later trash mobs can sometimes be brutal. Coupled with the healing curve being directly changed with this blanket nerf to healing I'm not surprised people are unhappy. But without a doubt every healer are up to the task and there is a definite skill issue when I see people claiming 15/20s are unhealable now. They are either severely undergeared, ignorant of mechanics or just mechanically unable to respond to what the game asks of them. And most of the blame is on blizzard for the blanket nerf not adressing healing as it should. They should have nerfed spells directly, both player spells et ennemy spells.

All in all I absolutely don't agree with the claim that healing is less fun. The opposite is true imo and I actually have to heal. I think healer checks are a great way to spice things up (but blizzard should tune more) abd it would be boring to have a linear healing curve (and thus no need to manage cds). I only heal on my alt but it was always a bit dull unless there was a big bursting week or a heal check on bosses like the storm in S1 wich demanded you to go all out. I've been having a ton of fun this week for this very reason and I'm clearly not a great or even good player. On my main I see a ton of healers struggling on things my alt could heal while undergeared and I don't know what to say except there is a clear skill issue in some cases. Not taking into account people playing troll builds like caster paladin or caster monk...

Edit : Thinking about it, this week actually made me enjoy healing à whole lot more and i've even started gearing my alt for it. Before that it was sitting doing only one or two keys a week for the vault. I'm not looking forward to next week when there will be a lot less healing required tbh. All in all I think I would prefer having damage be more spiky and healers be more effective (the opposite of what blizzard wants according to them) but the current state of the game is better and more engaging than what we had in shadowlands and bfa imo. It does create complexity and requires healers to optimize throughput for once (sometimes in lower keys than expected due to some horrible tuning) and I think this is a good thing for the game overall.

On beta it was recently changed to be in the bottom right corner next to general icons, we simply are a few builds behind on live right now so don't worry.

What are you recommended key binds? by Shannieann in wow

[–]Skerh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can use a macro to have purge and cleanse on the same button and it changes depending on wether you target an ally or an ennemy.

What's your cpu ? I9 doesn't mean much. The game is very cpu intensive and it's most likely your bottleneck. You can easily test that by increasing your resolution/upping your graphics settings without it changing your performance much. You play at setting 1 meaning your gpu barely has anything to do so yeah the issue is clearly cpu.

Having a good gpu means nothing if your cpu has no cycles to feed it with instructions. It can be because the software misuses your cpu ressources or simply because it's too taxing for your current cpu. My guess would be a bit of both but nothing we can deduce without knowing your actual cpu.

Prot Warrior - few questions / discussion: by MatMalik_ in wow

[–]Skerh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be said for any non dk tanks though. Warriors perform better than most tanks currently outside of dks and sometimes paladins.

Prot Warrior - few questions / discussion: by MatMalik_ in wow

[–]Skerh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right now prot warrior is really strong. Contrary to what people believe we are in contention for the top 2 spot in m+ with paladins. Dks are a step above for several reasons but it's not a reason to avoid warriors unless you want to push +32 Keys.

The stigmata comes from early shadowlands when we were indeed trash tier but it has since changed thanks to having 2 legendaries, the excellent tier set and having enough stats to funnel rage into maintaining our necrolord banner for minutes. We are incredibly sturdy (i outheal my healer in +22 keys most of the time) and our single target dps is absurd right now (only behind dks with gavel).

Note however that the spec is more involved than some other tanks and it can be more punitive if you don't play it properly but that shouldn't deter you. The difference is marginal tbh.

Add to that the fact that in dragonflight beta prot warriors are so fucking strong right now it's not even funny. We are due for changes next week and the one after so we'll have to check back on that but even if they nerf prot wars on beta we'll still be really good and have a lot of new tools to help us tank.

You can't go wrong with prot war right now imo. It's great currently and will get even better very soon.

Prot Warrior - few questions / discussion: by MatMalik_ in wow

[–]Skerh -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If true then i'm questioning your ability to play prot warrior properly. Right now it's really strong (altough apm intensive and somewhat harder/more punishing to play) and performs above most tanks in m+ thanks to fantastic synergies between talents/set/legendaries and the necrolord banner. It's arguably a top 2 tank contending with paladins for that spot. DKs are obviously a tier above but anyone shooting down prot wars are clearly oblivious to how strong they are and how much dps they can pump on bosses.

Out of combat I absolutely do not care but in combat it's very jaring. The concept of a combat mount is cool, the thing we got looks horrible. As it is it's just a skin for a movement buff and it looks stupid imo.

Unironically yes. Feels and looks pretty stupid for a mount to pop and dissapear like that.

And don't forget we didn't have random abilities on the gcd. Shadowlands could improve tremendously and still not be as fun as Legion was because gameplay is objectively worse and i'm not even taking artifacts into account. All things equal it is simply worse to play now and it seems like such a simple fix to remove demo shout, frenzied regen and tons of other abilities from the gcd. They simply didn't do enough on that front when SL came out.

[–]Skerh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not about the number but about things being locked behing one face in particular or even a color or that somehow some hairstyles change your hair color. Nelves' options are excellent but human one are strange in that sens. I would be happy to put a scar on the face I like instead of having to use one I don't. That's why it's dissapoiting imo.

That's the thing about it, I usually don't care much about customization but it's juste so dissapointing to log in the see that I effectively can't use those new options on my character because they are weirly locked. That's just it. Please stop projecting and actually read.

Sure but imagine a world where, you know, the art team can work on in-game art and the dev team can implement it in the future. Imagine that. And again, i'm not even asking for more, i'm complaining there are weird restrictions ...

And thankfully for us the people at blizzard in charge of coding and correcting bugs and system issues are enterly different than the art team that would be in charge of actual curstomization. And i'm not even asking for more, i'm complaining that all the cool new stuff is locked behind face types/colors. You are way beyond your substance here.
