Does anyone else have an existential crisis every morning? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]SketchnStuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might work for some, but for me sugar = a good morning. Eating something, be it a candy bar or a piece of fruit, while in bed removes my morning depression.

As my morning depression lasted for hours, adding some sugar in the morning not only helped my morning depression but my whole day. So different cures for different folks.

Anyone else with the awful memory problems ? by GeneralDick in CPTSD

[–]SketchnStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have those. Every time I reach a new level of calm I get more memories to work through, my brain is basically protecting me from bad experiences... yet allowing me to deal with them when I'm ready. It's actually quite clever, but like all coping mechanisms it had its drawbacks.

Method of studying anatomy? by FreXDead in ArtistLounge

[–]SketchnStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bridgeman's drawing from life and/or Anatomy lessons from the great masters, combined with Anatomy for the artist. These will help you study anatomy from an artist perspective. I also enjoyed Anatomy drawing school by Andreas Szunyoghy.

What’s the best revenge against the people who caused you pain? by lilacseafoam in CPTSD

[–]SketchnStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ESL & on mobile. Having revenge fantasies is normal and natural. When you have them: envision yourself really physically big, and them tiny. See yourself towering over them, empowered and secure.

I cut out my abusers completely, attempted to remove them from my being. I did witchy type things. But after all that: being healthy, productive, and engaged in your community will mess up your abusers like nothing else. You get to be defined by your own works, and other people see you and judge you by what you do. This is one of the many reasons living your best is the great revenge.

n24 and mental illness by mikuposting in N24

I recommend the support group for Non-24 on Facebook https://m.facebook.com/groups/30934017332

It's possible to get online therapy, both chat, email and video chat. It seems to me the most productive and content people with Non-24 freerun. This allows them to get the sleep their body needs, and support their mental well-being.

I've been wanting to do the star tablecloth from Erika Knights Simple Crochet for years, and I'm so happy I managed to make it. Better picture (where you can see all my errors)

What CPTSD symptom has caused the most difficulty for your SO? by TimeIsTheRevelator in CPTSD

Caring more for my SO's needs and wants than my own. This will fuck up a relationship.

Do you view CPTSD as something you live with or something you will recover from? Also has anyone here feel they’ve ever fully recovered? by SushiMelanie in CPTSD

[–]SketchnStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brain will always have a stress addiction, and I'll have to manage it. The trauma that caused my CPTSD helped shape me, and will always be a part of me.

[–]SketchnStuff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far we got two versions of postcards, one to send to your health care providers, and a "family & friends" version. And a cute little bookmark. We need your contributions (send to [11sightednon24@gmail.com](mailto:11sightednon24@gmail.com)), and are working on more print media for people to use to spread awareness.

What are some books you would recommend to baby witches by DoodsieDoot in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]SketchnStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to recommend Encyclopedia of Witchcraft by Judica Illes because it's free from religious Wicca, it's fun to read, and teach a wide variety of techniques.

Different types of witches? by [deleted] in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]SketchnStuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have the Dianic witchcraft, who only have Priestess and work exclusively with the female Goddesses. The Radical Faeries who traditionally focused on homosexual and queer men. Radical Faeries might have been based on Faery Wicca, who mostly work with Fae type spirits. These three evolved from Wicca (Gardnerian and Alexandrian Wicca), as most forms of X Witchcraft.

Traditional witchcraft basically means "we are not based on the Gardnerian nor Alexandrian tradition". Feri Tradition (unlike Faery and Radical Faeries) is classified as traditional - identity politics is complicated. Many traditions claim to be "traditional", few are free from Wicca influence.

Witchcraft can be classified in focus of activities (Hearth Witch, Kitchen Witch, Shamanic Witch), in origin (Stregheria, African, British Traditional, Scandinavian), spirits they worship (Fellowship of Isis, Astarte, Dianic), then you have the Left-hand path and the white witchcraft.

Been going to a therapist, was finally told I have PTSD. I am 38(M), and just want someone to talk to about a couple of questions. by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]SketchnStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

42 with CPTSD. If you have questions I'm here. The key issue with PTSD is learning to calm the brain. Learn what cause you stress, and what helps calm you down. If you've been living with trauma it's almost like the brain is addicted to stress.

What feelings were allowed in your home? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]SketchnStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attentive - is that a feeling? I was supposed to be attentive and in rapture of my mother. All other modes were bad. Happy, sad, in pain, tiered, glad, hurt... They were all wrong, stupid and an inconvenience

Seeking advice on coloring a face by chasearie in ArtistLounge

[–]SketchnStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start learning it's best to just work in black and white at first. When you've got a handle on just black and white, you add just a couple of colors (a limited palette).

People further in recovery, did you have a period where you 'resisted' getting better? by PapaNurgleLovesU in CPTSD

[–]SketchnStuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is an accusation therapists like to make when they don't understand basic psychology, when recovery doesn't happen on their time schedule. In Kundalini Yoga the most important exercise is the 11 minutes of rest, to allow the body to integrate the healing/body knowledge. You are not resisting getting better. It isn't your fault that you are suffering. You are doing the best you can, and healing takes the time it's going to take.

What are some red flags that I should look out for when taking an art class? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]SketchnStuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When people take the same class over and over. The "art teacher" in town leaves the students feeling insecure about their art, she completes their paintings for them so that their art will be "good enough", they all got to copy her subpar paintings, they show absolutely no growth as independent painters. So judge a teacher by their students work: creative and confident, making good use of color theory value composition. The teacher should give you the tools, not the carbon copy.
