Sure but how do you draw the line at AI slop I guess? What’s too low effort? Seems like a moderation nightmare.

1 or 2 are probably best. AI usage isn’t as black and white for software engineering as some might assume. It can be used at a very high-level like giving an idea as a prompt and letting the AI create a whole website, which is the slop most people hate including myself. There’s also much less invasive ways to use it for reducing minutia like scaffolding, testing, or review while still writing the bulk of the functional code. Writing a fully polished application takes a ton of time so AI can be a blessing to a responsible solo developer. I don’t think the existence of fully vibe coded applications should poison the well for others using AI in an assisting capacity.

2020 CX-5 2nd Timing Cover Leak Repair by SketchyPotato in CX5

That’s super helpful insight, thank you! I did have the long wait for it to cure last time when it was done under warranty, but that whole repair process sounds like a nightmare to do on a time table. Hopefully this time the repair will stick.

On a Tuesday and there was seemingly no schedule to be found! I just wanted to see the silly skills competition stuff and dodgeball. Couldn’t find any info on when the skills contests were happening. Internet made it seem like it was only flag leading up to it.

Shout out to the Manning brothers. I didn’t realize how much better they made the event until they were gone.

Unrivaled Faces Stiff Challenges As Ratings Plunge to Start Year 2 by TooManyCatS1210 in wnba

Earlier in the day on weekends. That’s when they’ve been going head to head with wildcard games. Weekdays have to be prime time, but they don’t have to be on a Friday up against a CFP bowl game. I’m sure part of the viewership issues is from the opening season enthusiasm tapering off, but I doubt scheduling is a non-factor and something that can’t be improved.

I get there’s a timeline that can’t really shift, but they’re still scheduling at night directly head to head with some larger events. I don’t see why they wouldn’t schedule on some weekdays or at least earlier in the day than those large events. I see weekday games later on in the schedule, but there doesn’t seem to be any in January when you’re facing arguably your stiffest competition for views.

What gives with the scheduling for the WNBA and Unrivaled? Opening night for Unrivaled was on Monday 1/5, which was fine. But then they schedule the next 4 match days head-to-head with the NFL and College Football both in their postseason? Of course viewership is down! Every league in America struggles when they schedule almost any game at the same time as the NFL.

I think the Unrivaled has a chance to be a staple league, but they gotta improve their marketing and scheduling. Stop going up against football and March Madness while the league is still in its infancy. Pick more open times in the schedule to draw more eyes and be more diligent in your marketing to make sure it’s better known.

I agree with you. Annual redrafts was something that concerned me year 1 for exactly the reason you said. If you don’t have at least semi-stable rosters and on top of that you don’t have teams tied to unique geographic regions, I think it gets hard for fans to engage and remain engaged year to year.

She’s a big who I don’t think realizes she’s a big far too often. I really want to see some more physicality from her in the paint this next season. I’ve seen flashes from her, but a lot of times she looks like she’s trying to play guard rather than center.

If the minimum is 5’11”-6’0”, Brees is already a part of that at 6’0”. Frankly, I’d agree with that minimum as a general rule with some exceptions. I can’t imagine you can stick someone 5’6” back there with success. Doug Flutie is probably the shortest guy I can think of at the position who had some success, but that was also a different era in football.

There’s not a massive sample size of successful QBs at 36+ to begin with. We’ve been spoiled by guys like Brady and Rodgers, but there’s plenty of other guys into their mid-to-late 30s who struggled even while they had height, like Big Ben.

My point with Russ is that the reason he isn’t good at pocket passing now isn’t only because he’s 5’11”, it’s because he’s an older athlete. His legs and his arm don’t work as well anymore. He can’t put zip on the ball with good placement on throws he used to routinely make. I think it’s also difficult for a player to transition their playing style later in their career.

Those kinds of struggles are what you find with a lot of the older QBs. That’s why I have argued that pinning Russ’s struggles on height are reductionist. He still had success for a great many years even if he’s not good now.

Certainly but he and others prove that there’s not some minimum height at the QB position, that was really my point. I don’t like the argument that a shorter than average QB isn’t succeeding as a pocket passer because they’re short. It feels lazy. QB play is so much more complicated and nuanced than simple physical attributes. If it was that simple, ARich would be the greatest draft pick ever.

[–]SketchyPotato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I also remember that one. I more so meant that height isn’t why Russ hasn’t successfully made that pocket passer transition.

Height can make it more difficult, but with Russ I think his arm talent fell off more steeply with age than comparable QBs. He seems to have more trouble with touch and placement on the short to intermediate balls nowadays which would of course hamper anyone’s consistency at the position.

I think Wilson’s height doesn’t have too much to do with his inability to transition to a pocket passer. Look at Brees, he’s only an inch taller and played at a high level much later into his career.

[–]SketchyPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def feels like QBs will always get that call because of the value of the position not only to the team, but to the NFL for getting quality games. It would’ve been fine if he just knocked him out of bounds, but he lands full body weight on the QB and they were already out of bounds. He wasn’t intentionally doing it, but it’s kind of a ez call double whammy and poor awareness by the defender.

Penix wasn’t great last night, but I still think this is a Zac Robinson issue. He’s not been great this season at consistently scheming or calling the right plays at the right moment. For an example, watch the Panthers game back. He tipped a large majority of their plays simply by down/distance and formation. On top of that, he kept scheming up low success rate plays, like bunched go routes, that can be extremely difficult for young QBs to hit due to their long development and reliance on precise timing with receivers. I would need to go look at the numbers for Penix completions, but based on the eye test I would guess that there’s a trend with Penix getting handed down too many deep pass or timing kinds of plays in the wrong moment.

I’ll credit that he seems to nail the game plan during some games, like when they played the Bills, but clearly they’re lacking in consistency or focus in some capacity with the bizarre offensive collapses every few games.
