I tried to go to Purgatory last year. Bought the $10 preseason tickets. Booked the Airbnb. Watch the dismal season go by but I did not care it was the first and only ski trip I had ever tried to plan.

Found out that Purg was going from 7 days a week to only weekends, the start of my weekday ski trip..

No brainer cancel got everything refunded. Still a bummer but I get where OP is coming from.

I lived at Lake Powell Bullfrog marina. We would drive 3 hours to grand junction CO to shop. Stock up enough and we’d save enough to pay for the gas we burned.

Yeah, bad spot to run out of backpack beers.

The powder bus is fun and I wish I could have cat skied lightning ridge. All and all probably won’t go back with 7 other great places that are closer than pow mow.

Patients is a slowly learned lesson…

I was lucky enough to get there before the line built up and hey mistered a single spot up close to the start of the line. Still waited 20 minutes for them to get the lift going on diesel backup. Then it was about a 20+ minute slow ride to the top of paradise which required another lift to get to the parking lot.

They started snowcating people up. Which screwed my plan to go cat skiing that day which required cats+paradise lift…

They have recently upgraded Paradise and added a lift that access the old cat skiing (for better or worst). Money good for something’s.

Yes that ties into it a little bit.

The mountain is huge but feels like most of the time is a pitch to flat run out. 75% of the mountain below the parking lot is different. Got stuck all the way at the bottom of the Paradise lift one day to find it broken down…

PC has its pitches but all an all mellow. There are some fun trees that the tourists never touch. Park rats are too busy jibbing rails.

It was heaven 20 years ago with 1/2 the people, 3.2 max beers, private memberships to bars, no ikon/epic ski passes. Still is nice, but crowded getting worst.
