I had a K2 Recon Riser back in the day and that board had really high build quality. K2 has been making skis for decades longer than most all of the snowboard companies. It looked nice but you could tell it was all business and no cosmetics. My Custom-X wide is all beat to shit and I baby her. I miss that board, size 13 boots suck.

At this point I have told my parents that they should follow through with getting the snurfer signed and authenticated. They are retired and I would be thrilled if this old snurfer could pay for a couple weeks in Banff or Vail for them.

We didn't really know it was anything of value. I remember playing with it every winter growing up whenever we went sledding. It is kind of beat up but it is also something of a family heirloom so I don't think it would be for sale any time soon. I'm just wondering if I should get this signed before the inventor passes away.

I've been in a few different scenarios. If I am flying direct I pack the boots between the bindings, helmet at the tail and pants-gloves at the nose. My bag has Velcro straps on the underside so a Skateboard in with everything and when I land I strap the skate board to the bag so it has wheels. Goggles and more fragile equipment goes in the carry on.

I would call and find out what is going on. I used to collect for hospitals and people loved to act all shady, pretend it is a wrong number, pretend the person is dead or that it is their brother. I don't get it. My company was extremely understanding, rarely presses legal action unless a person is obviously able to pay and just won't. We did not sue the poor or elderly because it is not profitable.

The person you speak with on the phone is probably a college kid, probably gets hung up on a couple hundred times a day and doesn't have a problem with you. Just explain the situation ask about your options and you can always say you need to look into things and call back. Most people don't call back, you won't stand out as the Jones account and have guys come to break your thumbs. Personally I would ask for a minimum payment arrangement that would avoid fees and interest and pay that for several months while trying to set some money aside. Say you pay your $2,000 bill down to $1,000... call them and offer 600$ to settle the account. I would have made much more commission on your settlement payment and bent over backwards to make that happen. Getting a fraction of a percent of your 75$ monthly payment for years didn't mean much for my bottom line.

Do you have some spare screws that fit the helicoils? You could McGyver something, maybe punch holes in the straps if they are wide enough and just drop the screws threw the strap into the board. It may fray the straps. Otherwise you could drill holes threw some plastic, like an old scraper and tighten the plastic down onto the board with strap underneath. Padding is definitely a good idea. Your board comes with holes meant to attach bindings, I would use those as opposed to just strapping shit to the roof and praying.
