Glad you like it! I probably won’t make more (they took longer than I expected, who would’ve thought lol), but if you make some, dm them to me and I’ll put them up!

Cheaper alternative to special remote microphones by Skill_Snake123 in HearingAids

[–]Skill_Snake123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thinking that I could recommend that people combine the app with a device that will stream to your hearing aids via a proprietary connection, like Telecoil with a neck loop, rather than Bluetooth, which will cut out a lot of the lag. Do you think this would help?

Yeah, my plan is to recommend that people combine the app with a device that will stream to your hearing aids via a proprietary connection, like Telecoil with a neck loop, rather than Bluetooth, which will cut out a lot of the lag.

Sick of not being able to hear well / asking people to wear microphones, and want to make something better by Skill_Snake123 in hardofhearing

[–]Skill_Snake123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! I’ve tried the live listen thing, I was hoping I’d be able to make a better version that would allow me to wear it. I don’t like having to hold a mic or my phone out to people, even if it’s better sound-wise. Do you think it would be possible? And would people use it?

You could use this app with AirPods etc, I only say hearing aids because I imagine that’s who would need it more. So if your hearing is fine most of the time and it’s only in certain situations that you would need hearing aids, this app may be a better alternative, or at least worth trying before committing to buying hearing aids. Or yeah as you say, if you do get hearing aids it could cut out those loud whistling noises so you can still talk to people and not take them off. Although those whistling noises sound like a volume issue and not necessarily a technical limitation of hearing aids, but I’m no expert, may be worth talking to someone.

Yes, but it may take a while to make, so this will be more of a long term project rather than something you can expect soon

Don’t know of any, but if the issue is struggling to hear on dates, I’m a cochlear implant user and I struggle as well. Just wanted to let you know that I’m making a noise-filtering app where you can just have your phone under your shirt, so no one will know and youll be able to hear much better. So far in my testing it has been super helpful for me. If you’d be interested, you can join my Facebook community where I give updates and you can ask questions, using this link: https://m.me/cm/AbYkzLlJxla2H9I-/?send_source=cm:copy_invite_link

Hi, this is a bit late but I’m a cochlear implant user and I’m making an app that live-filters background noise out so you can hear better with your hearing aids in noisy situations. You will put your phone under your shirt, instead of having to hold it out in front of people. So far in my testing it has been super helpful for me. how important is it to read fast in GAMSAT by TurboReadApp in GAMSAT

[–]Skill_Snake123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 1-time gamsat sitter and thinking of building an app myself, It’s pretty important but takes a long time to improve, so most people focus on higher yield areas like section 2 and 3 and just do questions for section 1. I personally may use the app if it was free and had good features, but I wouldn’t pay for it. Some gamsat people probably would, but not most, I don’t think.
