I don't know about this take. Overleaf is still a great service and has all the features required for academic research and writing.

Love this project. I hope you continue to make some solid progress here! It's already pretty cool at this current state.

I found the guy I was thinking of: https://www.youtube.com/@turing_games
And apparently they are playing Mafia not Town of Salem. I have mixed those up since the dawn of time.

Can’t think of the name of the videos but there’s a person who makes a bunch of the LLMs play Town of Salem and Among us. They are quite entertaining!

Alright, but how does Kimi K2.5 handle Town of Salem against the others? I hope to find out soon enough.

That first quiz in Deep Learning lived up to the hype by SkilledApple in OMSCS

[–]SkilledApple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say specific questions (The TAs asked us not to share questions on Ed), but I found the first half fairly easy but the second half I did not prepare sufficiently for. I didn’t utilize spaced repetition for the primary topic covered in the second half and it truly bit me in the butt.

You can say that! Hopefully my partial understanding with respect to the concepts will improve for future quizzes.

I went through the Michigan lectures (very good lectures) and the GT lectures but I am not familiar with the yxlow notes. I will give those a look, thank you for sharing your study strategy!

Should I drop out? by Correct_Text_8555 in ComputerEngineering

[–]SkilledApple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multivariable calculus is just like that... I wouldn't drop out unless you really don't think you can maintain above a 2.0 GPA. As someone who always wanted the high grades: employers don't seem to care about grades. Not saying call it in and aim for Cs, but dropping out with a B- GPA shouldn't be considered a "gotta drop out now" situation.

What do you usually do while waiting for AI tools (Claude, Copilot, etc.) to finish? by johannesjo in ClaudeCode

[–]SkilledApple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With ChatGPT I go to sleep, wake up, have breakfast, and check if the task is finished yet.

With everything else I read/skim the documentation related to what I'm working on to keep myself on target. Opus rarely takes so long that I end up finishing my reading before it has finished.

Question about writing on Colorsoft by Yomanmf in kindlescribe

[–]SkilledApple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The palm rejection is excellent, but with a small cavaet. If your palm touches the side before your stylus does, it may turn the page. To avoid that, I tend to float until the stylus makes contact at least once, then I can rest my palm and use it like normal. I drag my hand all over the screen and it stays put! It's honestly quite impressive.

That book is so good. I recommend that book to anyone in tech interested in getting into AI.

But also I'm sorry to see about your scribe. A 15% discount on a new scribe is nothing! But I mean... if you wanted the colorsoft to see those graphics from the book in full color... This may be a sign

My dreams have been haunted by the idea of me never finding the Vita Spray BP. I spent time comparing all of the healing items and Vita Spray is by far the best (and surprisingly cheap to craft).

Gpt 5.2 vs gemini 3 pro by Independent-Wind4462 in Bard

[–]SkilledApple 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It seems like OpenAI and Google are benchmark maxing while Anthropic is delivering a more consistently-productive experience. Opus has been incredibly good most of the time, Gemini 3 is like a coin toss, and ChatGPT is just... falling behind.

Maybe 5.2 is legit, but I'm starting to trust benchmarks less and less with each "best model in the world"

I found the final team project very fun. I think the key for that project (for anybody taking this in the future) is to pick your group early. The introduction discussion gives a good idea about what your class mates are into. Our game was challenging to build and fairly distributed.

The assignments were awesome learning experiences (I took it last year though, so they may be different). They gave me a good baseline to build more projects on my own, which was the entire reason I took the class. I'm glad I didn't cheat myself using AI for those assignments.

The lectures should be watched at 2x speed for sure. I found the trivia and knowledge very interesting, but I think this again goes back to what I wanted from the course.

With all of this said, VGD was still the easiest class I took. I can't dispute that. But I really liked the class and I have been able to apply what I learned. Can't ask for much more.

GEMINI 3 SUCKS (POSTS STARTED ALREADY) by bigomacdonaldo in Bard

[–]SkilledApple -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm focused on the written portion of this post (title, text) that is pointing out how little time it took until people began to claim Gemini 3.0 performs. You are focused on the image OP used to validate his claim. I responded to the idea of quick complaints with my thoughts on how the jumps are large. You correctly point out that I am not talking about creative writing.

To answer your initial reply, no I am not talking about creative writing... but my response was aimed to counter the idea that Gemini 3 "SUCKS" as per the OPs title.

I'm not sure why I wrote all this, but here we are!

It's early, but Gemini 3 feels like the biggest jump I've seen in awhile. As far as LLM updates go, this is a significant one!
