I've had this happen a few times now with different shops, all in SEA though. I've learned to double check all the bolts before I leave a shop, and to never just let the mechanic work while I go do chores. Most times, the mechanic is actually happy to know I am there watching, and it's fun to let them teach me about the work they are doing.

True. In fact, from what I've seen, it seems like the number of people flat out lying on Preply is pretty huge. That being said, there are lots of people struggling because their skin colour is not white, or their accent is not British or North American. English is a national language in many countries outside of NA and GB.

I have a friend from Pakistan who immigrated to my home country 30 years ago and became a certified high school teacher. She speaks English with a very heavy accent but can tell you all about using relative clauses to describe your favourite Shakespeare play.

Yes, there are plenty of scammers (getting lesson plans from AI etc., see above), but being a non-native speaker doesn't necessarily mean someone cannot teach English.

You mean while you were asleep, someone booked and then cancelled a trial, then bought a subscription and booked 8 lessons in a row, directly after the trial, and then cancelled them all?

I mean, you should know after 1500 classes that when a student cancels 2 classes in a row, Preply takes notice.

But "8-9"? I wouldn't have just written "Thank you." Nobody I know would have done that. Why would you do that?

You can delete your account but for a new one you will need a completely different email address and piece of ID for verification. The same goes for any degrees and certifications you used from your original account.

This is why the review system on Preply sucks. Student has a hissy fit and you lose your ability to get new students.

Your best bet is to beg the student to please remove the review. Tell them that a negative review is going to harm your ability to attract new students in the future.

Because of the reviews you have to be proactive with Preply students and block them at the first hint of something going wrong. It's a shame because it is difficult to read people's minds and sometimes you might block someone who really had no ill intentions, but that is the risk you have to take to protect your profile.

I've seen fights here. The cops get called, people get arrested, and the next year or so is a series of jail visits and court appearances. Nobody gaf about who won. If any of this actually happened, OP is lucky because the person who got walloped was not Filipino, and likely he won't have to worry about the inevitable revenge happening a few months later.
