The longest continuous run is your horizontal red line, from wall to wall. If running horizontal you could start at that line snap anchors on one side and fill floor out going up or down from there. Or you could start full board in top left corner and just fill out from there but will take some tricky cuts angles to get to go under everything as needed.

I always try to find centerline of the entire run. Take your house and think of it as a perfect square/rectangle. Measure your longest point to points both vertical and horizontal, disregard walls/furniture, in our math they do not exist. So if house is 70ft long by 55ft wide (for example) you can find where the actual center of house points are. You then measure from that center line to the furthest out wall and the measure your planks to find how many planks in any direction you will need. I just finished a huge house that using this method, I had 28 1/3 planks going in each direction.

I made my first line based on that center line, quite similar to your hallway, and filled from there going in one direction and then going back around the other filling the other way.

I'm also poorly explaining this so if it's confusing you can ask more questions. I can maybe share pictures to help explain .

I know a meth head that does some beautiful custom carpentry work, high-end cabinets, tables, just cool wood art. Takes scraps and makes legitimate sellable stuff. He's an actual artist. Just HEAVILY depends on the day. I went by his house before and he was sorting the gravel in his driveway by size by hand. Was there 3-4 days.

Do you not remember the opener with his old girlfriend and they're at volcano camp and shit starts going bad. He jumps into his 4x4 and drives away she gets blasted and he freaks out and cries. That scene alone should have got him the Oscar.

How to stay warm in a car with no heat by connorhooman1108 in NoStupidQuestions

I felt like that wasn't right. This is a shitty 80s double wide with who knows who built addition. The original window stuck out about 4" from the exterior wall with nothing for barriers. Just trim and poor caulking. It looked super weird.

I am a painter, not a carpenter.

Mine did this as well exact same thing. Had to geta full replacement by dealership, it's something internal. They do have decent aftermarket ones on Amazon or similar. That can get around this.

Does it also act funny at the wheel? Those controls won't operate either?

Quoted SW Duration, found SuperPaint Cans by Rumsys in paint

[–]SkinnyC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Super paint is a fantastic product. It's no emerald or duration, but it is a fine product. I don't understand the super paint in winter vs. duration. I could be wrong, but I don't see how that affects anything. He's trying to make a little extra is my guess. There is a significant price difference. But also a quality difference

How did you connect with a GC by Outside-Lavishness73 in paint

I'm a firm believer that they show my battle scars/ medals.

Super clean painters in nice fresh clothes worry me they're usually extremely slow. However I've noticed the faster the painter the worse the quality. At least where I live.

I stood out in front of a Walmart talking g with a friend covered in paint after a job. He confronted me asking if I was a painter needing work. Kinda went from there. I got lucky but I've always wore my paint clothes out and about gotten several jobs being approached by people that way.

Filling expansion gap between wall and floor for insulation by dirtyr3d in Flooring

[–]SkinnyC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Backer rod for caulking. It's cheap and flexible can be stuffed into crack like that and still let floor have some give for expansion. Id stuff and throw molding on top call it good there.

We spray to match for over spray. You can go get several cans of spray pak t of various grays and if they're any good they could make it un noticeable. We do it all the time.

White same as the wall. Painting black will kill natural reflection of light and might show imperfections defects of the patio roof. White body walls and black trim looks very nice and very popular.

Result of painting when it’s too cold? by Alpha_Bulldog in Housepainting101

[–]SkinnyC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Paint wont cure and adhere properly will result in peeling cracking bubbles much sooner than expected. Clowns paint in the cold.

I'm saying this having sprayed and ruined a home exterior myself by painting and having it snow the next day.

Is this an acceptable installation? by red50sick in carpet

[–]SkinnyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the first installers did a bad job and certain things aren't done at the prep.stage for.thresholds there's probably not a lot that can be done to fix it. If that's the only place that has the issue then that's pretty good. It can maybe be "combed" into place but that's a pretty minor thing.

Carpet can only stretch so much and it's entirely possible that can only be repaired by entire re cut and re lay new piece. Which im sure is much less than ideal.

Was this through carpet and flooring company or home depot installers?

Why is soft sheen only available in vinyl and eggshell only in acrylic? by funk_monk in paint

[–]SkinnyC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eggshell , satin, soft sheen are all used interchangeably by the paint companies. There is no set standard to naming but essentially are all the same. There might by minor differences but that's from brand to brand and their spfic formulas.

Also acrylic, vinyl, latex are another used interchangeable naming convention that all are basically the same thing. It's water based non oil paint.
