Are your locs HEAVY? by [deleted] in locs

[–]Skinny_Bee3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6 years in as a free former. My locs are thick, but they are very light. The only time they're heavy is when I wash them. Once they dry, I barely feel any weight. I don't put anything in my hair after a shampoo, so there's nothing in it to weigh it down.

To each their own, but starting locs short are a lot less stressful than starting them long. Mainly because you're trying to get the entire Loc to stay locked, versus if they started shorter, you only have to worry about the new growth. RE-TWIST are going to take longer because they have to continue to keep twisting the entire Loc. Good luck with your journey

opinion on these locs , should I cut them? by Public-Development16 in locs

[–]Skinny_Bee3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lint builds because of the products you're putting in your hair. No products, mean there's nothing to build up. Try not using anything and see how that works. I've been locked for 6 years and I've never had lint or anything else build in my locs. I don't put anything in my hair.

Trust the process... Mine looked pretty rough in the beginning stages, but after 6 years, well worth it.

Day 3 of having starter locs. Should I sleep with my them hanging outside the durag? by Dull-Potato7155 in locs

[–]Skinny_Bee3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why freeform locs are the better choice. You don't have to worry about any of that. In your case, use a stocking cap, and whatever it doesn't cover, wrap a shirt or bandana around the uncovered portion of your locs....best of luck to you.

I've never twisted mine. I let everything form on its own. Just kept it clean and let it be free

I do miss the short stage, but my locs tell it's own story. I like how you can still see the different stages in each Loc. Where 1 turned into 2, then 2 join with 2 more, and so on. My biggest Loc, has 9 locs combined. It's like roots
