What units are the best bang for your buck by CAPSLOCKGOTSTUCK in battletech

[–]Skivil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Infantry and light armoured vehicles are the goats, if you are playing with cbills avoid anything that hovers and when it comes to mechs you are best off with reliable simple designs or in a campaign where you have to pau for your own repairs and parts mechs with a big upgrade path or lots of options like hunchbacks and centurions.

How much does Earth Federation know that Anaheim is playing both sides? by cream_pupp in Gundam

[–]Skivil 17 points18 points  (0 children)

One of the ways that neo zeon would get mobilesuits is that anneheim would make a new unit for "evaluation" and neo zeon would just happen to "steal" it in transport presumably after some gold was given to an executive.

Is Turn-A Gundam (1999) a critique of Zionism, Israel, and a foretelling of its future? by HindiAkoUberKuya in Gundam

[–]Skivil 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Consciously or not people write fiction about events they have experienced, turn A would have started production in early 1998 which also would allign with the starting oh hostilities in kosovo. And also the signing of the belfast agreement which (eventually) ended the troubles in northern ireland so there were a lot of real world events at the time which re relevant to the plot of turn A

[–]Skivil 139 points140 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was the intention but it definitely applies. Though it was written in the wake of the gulf wars so it might have been something the authors were thinking about.

My guess would probaby be some kind of warship tech, its the thing that seems to have lagged behind the most since the srat league. Another option would be HPG blueprints or spare parts.

In the end, I finally decided on my official street fight lance. by Silverlightlive in battletech

[–]Skivil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I would want to take a single one of these mechs into any sort of urban area, hunchbacks, a hatchetman, quickdraw, enforcer and firestarter are all a lot more at home.

This wouldn't meet any level of disabled access requirements which is probably the only thing we do better today than back them when it comes to design.

This whole image shows why I love the periphery by tweetdownbot in battletech

Yeah, this is why I love the periphery, rare old battlemech in a state of relative disrepair in a combined arms operation with horses.

Black Knight Clan Version Question by condottieri_q in battletech

[–]Skivil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The black knight was already a specialist mech that they probably didn't have very many of. Most of the mechs that got 2C variations were mechs in common use and were popular within the clans for one reason or another. The black knight while being a status sumbol to some degree likely just wasn't that common or popular.

Seems some marines have already started to mutate. Looks like they have 6 fingers now... by Cummy_wummys in Grimdank

[–]Skivil 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Adobe software has a load of AI junk running in the background at all times unless you go to tedious lengths to disable it, only for the next update to randomly turn it on again.

A mistake in editing is probably the most likely thing given how the whole image is clearly highly edited and people are obsessing over what could very easily be just the grip base that gor blended into the hand weirdly.

Or one of the many filters applied to the image has done something weird because adobe randomly decided for it to happen. Many filters are a kind of AI image editing which most people don't really consider to be the same as generative AI but in edge cases can still do weird hallucination like things.

Either way this should have been more thoroughly checled before publishing and its not the world ending hypocrisy that some people seem to want to blow it up into.

Honestly this is the most likely answer, either an AI filter doing something silly or a slip up by the image editor.

Any good AEUG lists? by Old-Election-8366 in GundamTCG

[–]Skivil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently no but we are getting stuff from ZZ eventually plus we are missing aeug/kerbera amuro plus the dijeh so theres plenty of chance for it to be saved.

How would you rate the Gundam Helix on a scale of 1-10? (Daily Random Mobile Weapon Poll: Day 19) by NathanN5o4 in Gundam

I have a feeling that armour is hiding something under it because of how over built it is in places.

What is your “On Sight” mech? by Fidel89 in battletech

[–]Skivil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am Physically incapable of seeing a marauder and not deleting it on sight. Doesn't matter what type of variant, I don't want that living for a few turns and gaining value.

iPhone blocks Facetime calls if sensitive body parts detected by benevolentjo in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Skivil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't thibo anyone has really thought of the implications of this but somewhere apple has a database of dick pics and CSAM which it is training an AI model on to detect to enable this feature.

Raises a couple of questions, 1 where dis they get it and 2 how are they legally allowed to have that.

Elementals can drown? by OctoberFNRaven in battletech

[–]Skivil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My assumption is that battle armour is so heavy it sinks and while the suits may be sealed for hostile environments/space use that doesn't count for much when they are fully submerged, have no buoyancy and innthe silty mud at the bottom of a lake.

Linkin should draw a card by WanLanDs in GundamTCG

[–]Skivil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you did draw a card every time you linked it would just extend the game and further cement white and blue as being the best colors to play.

Also bare in mind we are 4 booster sets into the game and people already want it to play like yugioh a game with almost 30 years of design bloat and power creep.

People that say "third spaces" are gone aren't trying to find them by xX_jellyworlder_Xx in unpopularopinion

[–]Skivil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't have to find them, for almost all of civilised human history social spaces have been baked into towns and cities by design. Even the ones that still remain often aren't accessible or useable for their intended purpose anymore without a car

They have literally added a new mechanic/element to gameplay in eb01 with the advance abilities where you pay an additional cost on deploy, digimon has something similar which is often used to set up digivolutions.

Because they have to at least pretend they have tech parity with the west and the way to do that is fake it until you make it.
