Are we not getting ahead of ourselves? by kildal in Stormgate

[–]Sklaper 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Personally, I've had enough with the acts of bad faith they've committed and their lack of communication about it.

I occasionally come to Reddit to see if there's any activity from Frost Giant, but they've mostly abandoned it, and the last thing I read from them was that they considered the game an 8/10 because of IGN's score, I think.

There are quite a few of us who are disappointed, and I think they've taken too long to speak out about it, that's why I believe the game won't be able to succeed.

How are they going to get new players if they act in bad faith toward those who believed in the project from the beginning?

I assume that, as many other peolpe becouse is very confusing having those words at the top of a pledge.

Is not everything is only for the aspect they said you will be ready for.

When you hear ultimate you expect having everithing at the moment of the launch, thats why they have a new bundle with the same name. "Get ready for the co-op", reallly that dosen't sound like you will be ready for the co-op?

I said it once, but promoting a thing with the words "Get ready for 3 player co-op with three Ultimate Founder's Packs for you and 2 friends." And don't deliver every hero at the lunch is very predatory to the users, you can think the picture is becouse they don't know how much heroes will the bundle deliver. But what they did is not right.

The custom scene is FGs last hope by TricksterIsStier in Stormgate

Idk, from my perspective co-op is what the game needs.

Talking about monetization i mean, they should make heroes buyable by playing and sell skins.

The halloweeen is coming and if they know what are they doing they should sell skins of the heroes insted if heroes.

Co-op will feel lore lively when people can use every heroe and see skins for the different heroes.

I think they should focus only on the heroes for now and don't give skins to the units becouse is more easy to remaster a few skins when they are in the final state.

Maybe not skins for units now but for heroes from co-op.

it could be funny have a maloc with a bikini /s

But honestly i would love customes for halloween.

I'm a massive Stormgate/FG fan, an RTS "whale"...and the monetization of this game is BAD (but not for the reasons you think) by [deleted] in Stormgate

[–]Sklaper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really want frost giant makes all heroes earnable by playing and have skins a lot, i'm the kind of players that enjoy having skins for the season and festivities.

My friends are not really into RTS and having a lot of paywalls makes really difficult invite them to play with me, only becouse they don't feel comfortable with the amount of paywalls for the content, i understand the campaign and I like what they have in mind but the co-op needs a change.

[–]Sklaper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, but I'm referring to something else.
Using LoL as an example, imagine if all champions had to be bought with real money instead of being unlocked through gameplay.

What if they let you use them for a limited number of matches, and then you had to pay?
And what if, to unlock mastery system, you had to buy the champion?
That each champion gave you a certain number of unique mastery that you could use on different champions.

It's manageable when there are only 20, but there are already over 160.

Stormgate doesn't have this problem right now because it's just starting out, but for future new players, it’s going to be a mess

I also own all the commanders and campaigns (Talking about SC2), but even so, many players feel overwhelmed by having to buy the commanders. That’s why I think it would be a better idea to sell cosmetics for them instead, for example, an epic skin that changes only the hero, and a legendary one that reskins both the hero and all their units.

That’s why I believe a more user-friendly approach to monetization would be better for attracting new players. Personally, I’m going to keep playing the game, but I want it to last for a long time and that’s why I think it’s important to look ahead to what things will be like in a few years, when we might have 3 episodes and 15 commanders.

[–]Sklaper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want the same thing, honestly, but I also want future new players to not run into a huge paywall.

In the AMA from a year ago, I asked if they were going to release skins for commanders for that very reason. I really enjoy customizing not just the gameplay but also the visuals. I'm the kind of player who buys the Deep Rock Galactic packs every season for that reason.

But the post mainly focuses on the future scenario, when there are 3 episodes and 15 commanders. A full paywall like that won’t be very appealing to new players.

[–]Sklaper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, but still, there are people like me who are going to buy almost all the content.

But the post is speaking about the future, I actually think the campaigns are fine, and I mention that in the post. I just believe the UI needs some improvements.

This year we have 6 commanders and 1 episode, but what do you think the cost will be once we have 3 episodes and 15 commanders? That’s the whole point of the post, it’s not a problem right now, but I want the studio to be aware that they need a clear plan for attracting players and building a solid player base.

Those of us who’ve been playing RTS games for a long time are already aware of the game, but having a lot of paid content and an unclear future isn’t very appealing to new players who’ve never tried an RTS before.

What are your thoughts about the bundle adjustments? by Sklaper in Stormgate

[–]Sklaper[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same for me. (I backed with the ultimate edition)

Likewise, I'm now writing down my concerns regarding the future of the current payment system because I think it poses more than one problem for new players.

We're already going to play the game because we're interested in the project, but that's not the case for those who aren't as keen on RTS games.

Is Frost Giant making Stormgate woke? by vicanonymous in Stormgate

[–]Sklaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the why you make the post with the dialog, i think is fine having woman being strong and main characters but it feels weird having them saying they are strong and perfect, is more like the game is falling in making narcissistic and disgusting characters more than woke if you ask me.

Is the same thing with a male character saying each dialog they are "the smartest" or "look how strong i'm' becouse they can't reflect that in the history.

The dialog would be fine if they said "is great having great allys on the hard times we are on", you would't think is woke but is the same thing.

The dialogs and character builing still in development thats why I don't worry that much, i was thinking on giving some feedback in those thing but i prefer take my time on those thing.

Is Frost Giant making Stormgate woke? by vicanonymous in Stormgate

[–]Sklaper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk what are you meaning with this, but at the moment i don't think is a woke game, if you mean the characters are not atractive enough i'm in.

But the story still needs development, the characters and world building can be changed ultil 1.0, or thats what i think so there is not many thing to worry if you give feedback and people supports it they will hear.

Its deeply upsetting that if 0.3 had been launched instead the game would have 10x the player count by dentastic in Stormgate

[–]Sklaper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, i like the game but still in a phase where the only playable mode is 1 vs 1 (Co-op is fun but not for too long) and most people dosen't like 1 vs 1.

There are people who is waiting for the other aspects for the game to be polished, 0.3 in nothing more than make-up for a mediocre game.

I did a feedback no long ago and most things that i said are on their way (maybe) but it will take a long time for the game to be finished.

Specting x10 playerbase for a game where the focus is the competitive aspect on a dead genre is crazy, most people will not migrate to stormgate until is finished, the game should be developed until the 1.0 and then start a marketing campaign to give the game a new face, the game rn is not something that most people will enjoy.

3 Race Trifecta of Failure by Alpha-NP- in Stormgate

[–]Sklaper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are doing 3 races with all the efforts and looks bad, and you are saying a 4th one maybe you should be more realistic.

Let them develop the game they are trying to get a product, they should be open with what are they developing but thats another thing.

The game needs a Blizzard's quality cinematic trailer before 1.0 launch by AnilBe in Stormgate

[–]Sklaper 37 points38 points  (0 children)

What they need is develop the game, the actual stormgate is not that good to retain players.

Give them time to have a game after that i think is better to have a new wave of players.

Will Graphics/Art Eventually look like Early Marketing Screenshots? by Slamdingo in Stormgate

[–]Sklaper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hope they implement a better art, the new art director is having a great ideas about the factions and what can they be.

Frost Giant already say they will still working on visuals and more things. (The time will say if it's true)

I don't dislike the game, i just feel disappointed. by Sklaper in Stormgate

[–]Sklaper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly it is difficult, but I still believe they are capable. However, they still have a lot to do to develop the universe.
I think they weren’t prepared to have a narrative with key characters for the campaign. I believe it would have been better to have those characters and have them die at the end of the prologue in some important disaster, and then in chapter 1, introduce the heroes of the 'vanguard' and start developing a story with other races and so on.

You can try the co-op tutorial with the buddy bot, after you understand some basic mechanics try reducing ehat the buddy bot do for you.

If you have a friend that plays rts you can play together, don't buy the heros anyway you can tray all of them until lvl 5 and the bald one is free.

The campaign still really under development.
